Postcolonial theologies have positioned themselves over recent decades as an innovative new direction and critical inquiry not only in the field of intercultural theology, but also in practically every subdiscipline within theology. Such theologies are concerned with overcoming Eurocentric perspectives that sometimes shape scholarship even today. The aim of postcolonial theologies is to decolonize theological work. While the first volume (2013) gathered together the most important translated texts in this field, the present volume offers well-founded essays on every field within theology. An inventory of postcolonial theologies is now available for the first time. Scholars in the various subdisciplines within theology provide information about the state of the debate in their own fields and sound out the opportunities and limitations represented by postcolonial theologies.

The book contains 24 chapters, authored by senior academics as well as early career scholars, and is divided into four parts, detailing, respectively, why the Anthropocene is of importance to IR, challenges to traditional approaches to security, the question of governance and agency in the Anthropocene, and new methods and approaches, going beyond the human/nature divide. The burgeoning field of postcolonial studies argues that most theology has been formed in dominant cultures, laden intrinsically with imperializing structures. An essential task facing theology is thus to "decolonize" the mind and free Christianity from colonizing bias and structures. Here, in this truly groundbreaking study, highly respected feminist theologian Kwok Pui-lan offers the first full-length theological treatment of what it means to do postcolonial feminist theology. She explains her methodological basis and explores several specific topics, including Christology, pluralism, and creation.

A theology in tune with postcolonial theory has the potential to creatively inform and transform ecclesial practice. Focusing on the relation of theology to postcolonial theory, Postcolonial Theologies brings together a wide diversity of authors, many of them fresh and exciting theological voices, in essays that are stunningly creative and prophetically lucid. All essays are theologically constructive, not merely deconstructive or critical, in their visions for Christianity. Forming a sort of doctrinal landscape, they emerge under the themes of theological anthropology shaped by ethnicity, class, and privilege; a Christology that intersects the claims of Christ and empire; and a Cosmology that imagines a postcolonial world.

In October 1896, a squadron of "Deutsche Schutztruppe" forces erected a camp on Mount Meru, near the mission station that King Matunda was having built. A night battle between local people and the German forces resulted in the deaths of at least five civilians who worked for the mission station, including five Chagga (Karava, Mrioa, Kalami and two others whose names are unknown to us) and two Eastern European Leipzig Mission missionaries, Ewald Ovir and Karl Segebrock. The deaths of Ovir and Segebrock were then used as an excuse by the "Deutsche Schutztruppe" to brutally attack the Wameru and Ilarusa people 2021 Leipzig Mission commemorated the 125th year of the so-called "Aker killings" with an international online symposium. This publication documents the presentations.
