Power To The Edge Command Control In The Information Age written by and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with categories.

This book begins with a discussion of the nature of command and control. It includes a distillation of the essence of command and control, providing definitions and identifying the enduring functions that must be performed in any military operation. Since there is no single approach to command and control that has yet to prove suitable for all purposes and situations, militaries throughout history have employed a variety of approaches to commanding and controlling their forces. A representative sample of the most successful of these approaches is reviewed and their implications are discussed. The authors then examine the nature of Industrial Age militaries, their inherent properties, and their inability to develop the level of interoperability and agility needed in the Information Age. The Industrial Age has had a profound effect on the nature and the conduct of warfare and on military organizations. A discussion of the characteristics of Industrial Age militaries and command and control is used to set the stage for an examination of their suitability for Information Age missions and environments. The nature of the changes associated with Information Age technologies and the desired characteristics of Information Age militaries, particularly the command and control capabilities needed to meet the full spectrum of mission challenges, are introduced and discussed in detail. Two interrelated force characteristics that transcend any mission are of particular importance in the Information Age: interoperability and agility. Each of these key topics is treated in a separate chapter. The basic concepts necessary to understand power to the edge are then introduced. Then the advantages of moving power from the center to the edge and achieving control indirectly, rather than directly, are discussed as they apply to both military organizations and the architectures and processes of the C4ISR systems that support them.

Artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and other emerging technologies such as cloud, edge and quantum computing are converging to rewrite the landscape of modern industries and society as a whole. Comprehensive in scope, the book offers a detailed account of these inter-related domains current trends and future possibilities. Chapter 1: We begin by setting the stage with an overview on various trends, problems proposed to solve and road ahead provided by AI, Machine Learning and Deep learning from cloud, edge and quantum computing perspectives. The same is a comprehensive summary to provide perspective on the implications as one continuous stream of technology. It then discusses scalable and adaptive deep learning algorithms, which work in modern machine learning systems where there is a deluge of data. These algorithms sufficiently prepare AI technologies to face the challenges of increasing data as well as expansion of computational capabilities. Chapter three is Federated learning for Edge AI further makes privacy / personalization and security stronger. The amalgamation of blockchain emphasizes the robust and distributed nature of edge intelligence in modern IoT ecosystems. One of the most pressing issues in today's ethical landscape is that of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), and so the fourth chapter deals with some recent advances in explaining black-box models, providing a way to better understand -and thus potentially trust- AI-driven decision-making processes. This study explores the application of Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) in the contexts of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 giving insights on how automation can bring efficiency and innovation in different sectors. It also presents information on the challenges and opportunities that AutoML faces. In conclusion, the book discusses Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which is a new topic that presents an ambitious view of what AI may be capable of in the future and some points to digest over how the concept might relate to our understanding on what industry may look like in the next stage of human evolution. Individually, these chapters offer a slice of the overall picture of where AI technologies are headed to keep pace with an advancing world.

The heinous rape of Nirbhaya has jolted the Indian nation out of its apathy. But rape and violence against women are only symptomatic of a deeper malaise that ails the nation – the total collapse of governance under the weak and vacillating prime minister, Devender Singh, and his Indian Democratic Party. Ironically, aiding the ruling party to cling to power is a casual and largely indifferent Opposition, led by the venal Ravi Nehra. So when activist Daivik Verma and Bollywood’s leading lady Catherine Khan decide to challenge the existing system by floating a new political party, it is seen as a ray of hope. But lack of funds and cadre-support thwart their efforts; their only recourse now is to approach the enigmatic and reclusive Shruti Ranjan, who had sworn off politics three years earlier. Will Nirbhaya’s gruesome rape and subsequent death bring a disillusioned Shruti Ranjan back into the political fray? Will the land of great leaders like Chandragupta Maurya, Ashoka and Akbar, finally get the dynamic Prime Minister she so badly needs? Featuring Shruti Ranjan – the immensely popular protagonist of the best-selling The Edge of Desire – in a resurgent avatar, The Edge of Power is a powerful enquiry into the underbelly of Indian politics, and raises important questions about the funding of Indian political parties.

Playing To The Edge written by Michael V. Hayden and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-02-21 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

From the bestselling author of The Assault on Intelligence, an unprecedented high-level master narrative of America's intelligence wars, demonstrating in a time of new threats that espionage and the search for facts are essential to our democracy For General Michael Hayden, playing to the edge means playing so close to the line that you get chalk dust on your cleats. Otherwise, by playing back, you may protect yourself, but you will be less successful in protecting America. "Play to the edge" was Hayden's guiding principle when he ran the National Security Agency, and it remained so when he ran CIA. In his view, many shortsighted and uninformed people are quick to criticize, and this book will give them much to chew on but little easy comfort; it is an unapologetic insider's look told from the perspective of the people who faced awesome responsibilities head on, in the moment. How did American intelligence respond to terrorism, a major war and the most sweeping technological revolution in the last 500 years? What was NSA before 9/11 and how did it change in its aftermath? Why did NSA begin the controversial terrorist surveillance program that included the acquisition of domestic phone records? What else was set in motion during this period that formed the backdrop for the infamous Snowden revelations in 2013? As Director of CIA in the last three years of the Bush administration, Hayden had to deal with the rendition, detention and interrogation program as bequeathed to him by his predecessors. He also had to ramp up the agency to support its role in the targeted killing program that began to dramatically increase in July 2008. This was a time of great crisis at CIA, and some agency veterans have credited Hayden with actually saving the agency. He himself won't go that far, but he freely acknowledges that CIA helped turn the American security establishment into the most effective killing machine in the history of armed conflict. For 10 years, then, General Michael Hayden was a participant in some of the most telling events in the annals of American national security. General Hayden's goals are in writing this book are simple and unwavering: No apologies. No excuses. Just what happened. And why. As he writes, "There is a story here that deserves to be told, without varnish and without spin. My view is my view, and others will certainly have different perspectives, but this view deserves to be told to create as complete a history as possible of these turbulent times. I bear no grudges, or at least not many, but I do want this to be a straightforward and readable history for that slice of the American population who depend on and appreciate intelligence, but who do not have the time to master its many obscure characteristics."

Naked at The Knife-Edge, Vivian James Rigney’s compelling and often harrowing true account of summiting Everest, offers a unique window into lessons on leadership and what it takes to succeed in any circumstance. Only a relatively small group of individuals has climbed the highest peak on each of the planet’s seven continents. Known as the Seven Summits, it is a feat that typically takes years and an enormous amount of planning, training, and effort, in some of the most inaccessible places on earth. But Vivian James Rigney was determined to do just that. An executive coach and globally recognized authority on leadership and teamwork in business, Rigney relied on skills learned in the corporate world in addition to physical training to attempt these summits. Everest, his seventh and final peak, almost broke him. There, he and his team confronted wild storms lasting for days, near-vertical walls of ice, and a knife-edge ridge with fatal drops on either side. They endured avalanches, sub-zero temperatures, and tragedy unfolding around them. The roller coaster of pain, self-reflection, questioning, and above all, loneliness left Rigney with ego in tatters. It was then he discovered an awakening of what real purpose and legacy actually is. This unique and powerful journey reveals critical wisdom for individuals and leaders in any circumstance, including how to: Overcome the ego trap and get out of your head Triage what you can and cannot control Harness your intuition Create shared purpose and real followership Tap into the power of vulnerability and authenticity In Naked at the Knife-Edge, Rigney uniquely combines the hands-on and reflective approach of one of today’s most respected executive coaches with adventure and a raw and revealing personal story.
