Come the year 2030 and the world would be completely rid of poverty. Set as the first of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) announced by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2015, SDG 1.3 further projects that 100% financial inclusion too shall be achieved by 2030. Despite trillions of dollars flowing through the financial system on a yearly basis and billions of dollars being invested to financially include excluded people, the efforts have remained handicapped, among other things, by the lack of such a definition that elaborates on what exactly is meant by being financially included. Unlike literacy, financial inclusion is a two-way street. People can slip in and out depending on the extraneous circumstances and also how the term is defined. Thus, no one can put an accurate count on the number of mutually exclusive financially included people worldwide as at this moment. Undoubtedly, sustained financial inclusion is critical to empowering people across the world to realize their dreams. Given this, it is imperative to dispassionately evaluate the obstacles to this dynamic construct and address these so as to facilitate the effective functioning of financial systems worldwide--only this can guarantee 100% financial inclusion by 2030. With three decades of multi-country experience in the financial sector behind him, Ramesh S Arunachalam is uniquely placed to draw lessons from the recent financial crises that have plagued world economies and identify key factors that have contributed to impeding efforts to achieve the goal of universal financial inclusion. In this seminal work, he outlines practical remedial strategies with regard to these factors and highlights the role of innovations like FinTech and Blockchains that can help further the cause of 100% sustained financial inclusion. In Powering A Billion Dreams, the author also provides a clear framework to develop a tracking methodology whereby the numbers of financially included can be measured globally and on an anywhere, anytime basis. A global financial inclusion ticker could prove critical in achieving SDG 1.3 and ensuring that billion or more people across the world do not give up on their dreams for want of access to need-based, affordable, nonsubsidized and quality financial services delivered in a transparent and accountable manner.

One Vision Billion Dreams written by Santosha K. Nayak and has been published by Notion Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-26 with Business & Economics categories.

This book is all about the economic empowerment of the common man. More than 80% of the people are under sheer darkness and away from real development. When we talk and see of development, it is less than 20 % of the country. Historically and systematically large sections of the people were kept under darkness. And the trend hasn’t seen light for quite some time despite all the efforts from many eminent persons from different walks of life. Perhaps, they all used only their minds and lacked in their heart while trying to find solutions. The author in this book has attempted afresh some steps with a bottom up approach to achieve real development of all, especially the left-out 80%; and achieve comprehensive economic development across every nook and corner of the country. This book talks about Unique Natural Endowment Theory, Graded Self-sufficient Model of Regional Economic Development; and analysed the structural needs in each sector of the economy so as to address the persistent on the ground problems. At present, entrepreneurial knowledge is at a low level among the larger mass; and challenges to micro entrepreneurship are high. The book also talks about entrepreneurial spirit and processes for the common man. This book discovers ways to reach new heights of growth and development in New India. This book has dreams for every common man and tries to find ways to materialise the individual dreams of the billion plus people of India. That's why this book is - One Vision for a Billion Dreams.

The past two years saw Rath Yatra celebrations without devotees as everyone grappled with the deadly COVID 19 pandemic. This year’s event comes amid renewed hope that the worst is behind us. In our Cover Story, we look at the preparations for the annual religious festival that promises to be back with the same grand splendour that it has always been associated with. With expectations of a huge crowd of devotees this time, it is little surprise that the allied functions associated with the Rath Yatra are also back in business. Flying into the danger zone is something that Commander Amit Mohapatra has been doing for many years. Recently, he added another feather to his cap when he became the Commanding Officer of Indian Naval Air Squadron 316. He is featured in our CityZen section where he talks about his passion and life in the armed forces. The section also profiles Sanya Shah who has been empowering women by helping them to come out with their creative best. Her NGO Sapne strives to make their dreams come true. ‘Sons of Darkness’...the book's name is enough to conjure up images of a grim, dark world. And this is exactly what author Gourav Mohanty has done; he has come up with a proper dark fantasy, one that creates an instant connection thanks to characters like a pirate princess from Kalinga. Read more about this in our Literature section. Inclusivity, equality, and freedom. These are a few sentiments that are generally associated with the Pride movement. Few today realize that electric cabs dominated Manhattan's streets in the 1890s; that Boise, Idaho, had a geothermal heating system in 1910; or that the first megawatt turbine in the world was built in 1941 by the son of publishing magnate G. P. Putnam -- a feat that would not be duplicated for another forty years. Likewise, while many remember the oil embargo of the 1970s, few are aware that it led to a corresponding explosion in green-technology research that was only derailed when energy prices later dropped. In other words: We've been here before. Although we may have failed, America has had the chance to put our world on a more sustainable path. Americans have, in fact, been inventing green for more than a century. Half compendium of lost opportunities, half hopeful look toward the future, Powering the Dream tells the stories of the brilliant, often irascible inventors who foresaw our current problems, tried to invent cheap and energy renewable solutions, and drew the blueprint for a green future.

In recent years, India has emerged as a major economic and political power. Yet, the country's cultural influence outside India has not been adequately analyzed in academic discourses. This book, a pioneering attempt, from an international communication/media perspective, is aimed to fill the existing gap in scholarship in this area.
