Teachers of religious education and would-be catechists will find valuable practical and spiritual aid in this book. The view of the author is that catechesis is a matter of heart as well as head--formational as well as intructional. Drawing on the "General directory of catechesis", she offers practical ways of making that kind of catechesis happen and help with widely ranging challenges to religious educators, from setting up a parish video library to facilitating adult catechesis, from evangelizing and catechizing our children, to catechesis for the developmentally or physically challenged

A Practical Guide For Imparting The Faith written by David J. Wilson and has been published by Alba House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-10-01 with Religion categories.

The goal of the book is to offer practical advice to those in parish ministry so that, by following the steps set forth in this process - from laying the foundation to putting the faith into practice by serving others - students will more easily assimilate and apply what is being taught to their various life situations. Each of its twelve chapters opens with a verse from Scripture that relates to the chapter's topic and purpose. Drawing heavily on the Church's documents and the teachings of the bishops following the Second Vatican Council, the book takes a theological concept and applies it to practical experience. Faith is a gift of God; nurturing it is our gift to Him. This book shows us how we can do that most effectively.

Catechism Of The Catholic Church And The Craft Of Catechesis written by Pierre De Cointet and has been published by Ignatius Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-08-22 with Religion categories.

Foreword by Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn The theme of this book is that the Catechism of the Catholic Church, perhaps the most important work on catechesis since the Apostolic Age, offers not only a new, definitive account for our times of the full teaching of the Catholic faith, but also that it is a superbly crafted work from which to learn and to teach the faith. This book reveals the pedagogy embedded in the Catechism, showing every teacher, parent, catechist or student how to discover the key principles that enable one to learn from, and teach from, the Catechism. The Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks of the "wisdom of the presentation" of the Catechism and of "the depth of its spirituality". These points have rarely been explained in any sustained way and have never before been systematically treated. The unique point about this book is that it focuses on these points, rather than a simple explanation of the content of the Catechism. This book offers a pedagogical approach to the Catechism for handing on the faith of the Catholic Church in any setting, whether home, school and parish. It offers perennially valid teaching points drawn from a perennial text, and an explanation of the 'pedagogy of God' which underpins all authentic teaching methods in the Church. In this way, the book offers a twelve step ‘path to recovery' out of unhealthy catechetical addictions and obsessions which have bedeviled the catechetical world. It is unique in its origin, emerging from a 'catechetical friendship', encouraged by Cardinal Schönborn, between three institutions working in an authentic Catholic catechetical tradition. The three authors display a deep trust and love for the words of the Catechism of the Catholic Church – words that hold a rich heritage and can be pondered lovingly and searchingly, since they are for our good, for everyone's good.

he Germans during the last two centuries turned their attention in a special manner to the vast field of instruction and education; but in no branch was there more earnest work done than in Catechetics. In numerous cathechetical periodicals and associations, and in a series of catechetical courses men of the greatest talent have devoted all their learning and ability to discuss and test the various methods, and to establish the most fruitful process of teaching Catechism. The movement has not yet met with perfect success; although the views of the weightiest authors now approach unanimity and a number of principles have been adopted as practically reliable, nevertheless it is not an easy matter to reduce them to practice. Of the many who have attempted to do so, only a few have met with satisfactory results. Lacking a thorough understanding of said principles, nearly all have applied them without sufficient care; among these are some who have the reputation of being masters in Catechetics. The Rev. James Nist, parish priest of Birkenhrerdt (Palatinate), easily surpasses all his predecessors, and may be considered by far the best in Catechetics, for he has satisfactorily fulfilled his task. He has, indeed, mastered the true catechetical Method, without allowing it to master him. His catechetical works, therefore, deserve to be recommended as models. Even the older and more experienced Catechists can find much to learn therein, and especially the rare art of becoming little with the little, of accommodating oneself to their mind, heart and will. Wherefore, most willingly complying with the request of the Publisher, I have written this brief Introductory to the English translation of his model work. I recommend especially a thorough study of his treatment of the Sixth Commandment, of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and of the Sacrament of Penance (for the first confession).
