Prairie Style written by C. S. Giscombe and has been published by Dalkey Archive Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Poetry categories.

"Prairie Style is about the breakdown of location and voice. It lays out a landscape of habitations (Frank Lloyd Wright's designs for "servantless families," fox dens in an embankment, the two-mile long face of Chicago's Robert Taylor public housing project, etc.) and crosses and recrosses the line between poetry and prose. The book is an acknowledgement of the "terrible frankness" of color, pleasure's distance, and the similarity of equivocation and argument. Prairie Style is the turn inland. "Inland, one needs something more racial, say bigger, than mountains.""--BOOK JACKET.

Excerpt from Prairie Poets: An Anthology of Verse of the South Dakota State Poetry Society, 1927-1949; Dedicated to Its Founder and First President and Editor of Pasque Petals, 1926-1937, James C. Lindberg, and to Bessie L. Lindberg, Publisher, 1939-1948 In October, 1927, so much interest was felt in the creative writing venture that The South Dakota State Poetry Society was organized, with pasque petals as its organ. Today its influence is national, for once a South Dakotan always a South Dakotan brings contributors from many states. In 1928, Prof. Lindberg published its first anthology; in 1930, he brought out Fifteen South Dakota Poets. In 193 5, he and Mrs. Ger trude Gunderson published another general anthology, again with some over 100'contributors and zoo poems. In his last message to The South Dakota State Poetry Society, Prof. Lindberg set the twentieth year, 1947, as time for another anthology. Conditions following the war have been delaying factors, but his wish now finds fulfilment in prairie poets. This anthology of prairie poetry is retrospective and gathering, meant to bring together those who have long been committed to poetry and to the prairies. The poems range from anecdote to experiment, minute recording to extravagant invention, and the poets-- all distinguished writers who have been anthologized, studied, interviewed-- are as likely to explore structures of knowing as details of landscape. Inscriptions is a necessary and important entry into the strangely known and wildly unknown terrain that is prairie poetry.
