Global sustainable development of the world economy requires better understanding and utilization of natural recourses. In this endeavor rheology has an indispensable role. The Rheology Conferences are therefore always an important event for science and technology. The Fifth European Rheology Conference, held from September 6 to 11 in the Portoro-z, Slovenia, will be the first AlI-European rheology meeting after the formal constitution of the European Society ofRheology. As such it will be a special historical event. At this meeting the European Society of Rheology will introduce the Weissenberg Medal, to be bestowed every four years to an individual for hislhers contribution to the field of Rheology. The recipient ofthe first award will be professor G. Marrucci ofthe Universita degli Studi di Napoli, Italy. Two mini Symposia will be part of the Conference. The first, on Industrial Rheology, will commemorate the late professor G. Astarita. The second will honor the eightieth birthday of professor N.W. Tschoegl. This volume comprises extended abstracts of the 15 plenary and keynote lectures and about 300 oral and poster contributions presented at this conference. AII contributed papers were reviewed by members ofthe European Committee on Rheology, assuring the high standard ofthe Conference. Besides the scientific program, the Organizing Committee has prepared an extensive social program that wilI reveal the culture and the natural beauties of Slovenia.

Advances in Rheology Research has been divided into fourteen chapters. The renowned authors of this volume discuss current advances in rheology research for different application fields, covering theoretical and experimental scientific contributions. The fourteen chapters include discussions on a wide range of outstanding rheological issues such as rheology and 3D printing; rheological characterisation of injection grouts using rotational rheometry; analysis of rheological properties of 100% liquid CO2 based gel fracturing fluid; rheology applied to food product design; miscibility and viscoelastic properties of poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile) blends; rheology of honey; unusual nonlinear rheological behaviour of branched polymers: multiple overshoots in stress growth, experiments and theory; viscosity and viscoelasticity of baby foods; rheology as an instrument for food development; using the Laplace transform in rheology kinetic modeling; design of vibration absorbers using the rheological properties of viscoelastic materials; a viscoelastic fluid due to a non-linear accelerating elastic sheet; an MHD boundary layer viscoelastic fluid flow over a stretching sheet in a porous medium; and thermal radiation effect on fully developed laminar mixed convection flow in a vertical porous stratum by using a differential transform method. All of the above chapters are intended to contribute the improvement understanding of the rheological characterization and performance in numerous application fields from the food to the non-food industries.

High Performance And Specialty Fibers written by Japan The Society of Fiber Science and Techno and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-08-16 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book reviews the key technologies and characteristics of the modern man-made specialty fibers mainly developed in Japan. Since the production of many low-cost man-made fibers shifted to China and other Asian countries, Japanese companies have focused on production of high-quality, high-performance super fibers as well as highly functionalized fibers so-called ‘Shin-gosen’. ZylonTM and DyneemaTM manufactured by Toyobo, TechnoraTM produced by Teijin, and VectranTM developed by Kuraray are those examples of super fibers. Carbon fibers ToraycaTM from Toray have occupied the most advanced high-performance application area. Various types of polyester fibers having design-shaped cross-sections and special fiber morphologies and those showing specific physico-chemical properties have also been developed to acquire a high-value textile market of the world. This book describes how these high-tech fibers have been developed and what aspects are the most important in each fiber based on its structure-property relationship. Famous specialists both in industry and academia are responsible for the contents, explaining the design concepts and the special technologies for the production of these special fibers. For university teachers and students, this volume is an excellent textbook that elucidates the basic concepts of modern fibers. At the same time, researchers, both in academia and industry, will find a comprehensive overview of recent man-made fibers. This publication, presenting the most easily understandable general survey of specialty man-made fibers to date, is dedicated to the 70th-anniversary of the Society of Fiber Science and Technology, Japan.
