Principles of Typology is an attempt to rigorously outline all existing and possible typological systems. Even though it focuses only on one particular system, namely, the Jungian typology, it has established the foundation and the methodology that underlies all systematic thought with regard to the subject. This book starts with an outline of the axioms of typology, upon which clear and thorough definitions of functions, attitudes as well as their relations with each other has been established. The chief purpose of this volume is to clearly outline the essence of typology and provide a method for further acquisition of insight with regard to this subject. Therefore, a distinction is drawn between pure and applied typology, the type itself and personalities that inhere within the type, as well as light is shed on the proper association of those concepts. The primary purpose of the outline of such fundamental notions to the subject is to allow for the reader to be clearly aware of what we already know of Jungian typology and the core of all typological systems as well as how we can acquire further reliable knowledge. Because the method with regard to both procedures is clear and rigorous, it is likely to be reliable. This volume includes the following, two essays exploring and a thorough analysis of each type. The two essays are concerned with the aforementioned issues as well as include a critique of well known works on typology. The methodology that has been established in those essays has been utilized in the body of this work, namely, the 16 profiles where our current knowledge and possible knowledge with regard to each type has been subjected to the exactest and most thorough scrutiny possible.

What do all languages have in common, and what gives each language its individuality? Language typology, which has developed in response to these fundamental questions, is concerned with the construction of theoretical frameworks capable of delimiting the range of possible human languages and of capturing constraints on cross-linguistic variation. Language typology is a major concern of all contemporary schools of linguistics, yet a coherent image of the field is difficult to form because of the diversity of theoretical orientations and practical methodologies. This collection brings together for the first time original contributions from major schools of typological research, from the Prague School to the Generative Grammar tradition. Leading scholars offer first-hand accounts of the theoretical foundations and substantive findings of their particular school of thought, clarifying basic assumptions which are often not explicitly stated in the literature. The collection as a whole provices both a survey of the place of individual typological schools in the historiography of the subject and a comprehensive account of the present state of language typology in an international context. It gives an overview of both the underlying unity of and the differences in the methods employed in the field.

Principles Of Biblical Hermeneutics written by J. Edwin Hartill and has been published by Harper Collins this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1960-10-05 with Religion categories.

Biblical hermeneutics is the science of interpreting the Bible. The aim of this book is to explain and illustrate the various principles of Bible interpretation that must be followed if one is to understand the teachings of God's Word correctly. Such a study is pivotal to anyone who studies the Bible. Unless consistent principles of interpreting its passages are followed the truth of God becomes blurred and confused. Determining what the Bible means must precede all application of its words to the lives of its readers and hearers. Dr. S. Franklin Logsdon, Bible teacher and evangelist, says of this book: "These principles of Bible study by Dr. J. Edwin Hartill have been tested and proved in his own personal teaching for many years. They are succinct, pointed, practical, original, understandable -- simple keys to unlock the storehouse of Scripture to things both old and new. This publication makes a distinct contribution to Bible lovers in their search for increased knowledge of divine truth. It is a privilege and an honor to commend it to God's people." Using a graphic combination of text, charts, and outlines, Dr. Hartill states, "I trust that as you study these principles, your understanding of the Word and your love for its truth may deepen, so that you may more ably pass it on to others." Included are chapters on: - The Dispensational Principle - The Covenantal Principle - The Ethnic Division Principle - The Discrimination Principle - The Predictive Principle - The Application Principle - The Typical Principle - The Principle of Human Willingness in Illumination - The First Mention Principle - The Progressive Mention Principle - The Full Mention Principle - The Context Principle - The Agreement Principle - The Direct Statement Principle - The Gap Principle - The Three-fold Principle - The Election Principle - The Repetition Principle - The Synthetic Principle - The Principle of Illustrative Mention - The Double Reference Principle - The Christo-Centric Principle - The Numerical Principle
