ABOUT THE BOOK Nigerians are getting more and more restive. They are bothered about the state of the nation since the arrival of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. They cannot understand the cornering of the commanding heights of the administrative structure of the country by the Fulani and their protégées, the virtual exclusion of the rest of Nigerians from the country's Security Council and many other vital organs of government, the economic neglect of the Eastern corridor, the emasculation of seaports in the East and the Midwest, and many more acts that have virtually crippled economic activities in Nigeria. The sporadic blood-letting by marauding hordes in Central Nigeria and parts of Southern Nigeria while the federal government looks the other way is another source of worry. Meanwhile the menace of Fulani herdsmen or militia and their cattle continues everywhere unabated, with farms being ceaselessly plundered and destroyed. As a consequence of the above, our discerning youths are increasingly asking questions. Why are the elders and politicians seemingly nonchalant about what is happening? they ask. Some put it even more succinctly by asking: What must we do today to extricate ourselves from internal colonisation and the glass ceiling placed over our heads by a tiny minority of power mongers in post-war Nigeria? These are legitimate questions that demand answers from the older generation, hence this book. It is the sequel to my Pro-Biafra Movements, Ohanaeze & the Future of Nigeria (2018).

These original essays describe the internal life of terrorist organizations in fascinating detail. They show how no description of terrorist behaviour is adequate without a grasp of the deep tensions that often characterize such groups, and an appreciation of how firmly implanted in our culture terrorist traditions have become, since the middle of the nineteenth century.

Democracy And Prebendal Politics In Nigeria written by Richard A. Joseph and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-02-06 with History categories.

Originally published in 1987, this book examines the relationship between the pattern of party formation in Nigeria and a mode of social, political and economic behaviour Richard Joseph terms 'prebendalism'. He demonstrates the centrality in the Nigerian polity of the struggle to control and exploit public office and argues that state power is usually viewed by Nigerians as an array of prebends, the appropriation of which provides access to the state treasury and to control over remunerative licenses and contracts. In addition, the abiding desire for a democratic political system is frustrated by the deepening of ethnic, linguistic and regional identities. By exploring the ways in which individuals at all social levels contribute to the maintenance of these practices, the book provides an analysis of the impediments to constitutional democracy that is also relevant to the study of other nations.
