A Unified Approach To Uniqueness Expansion And Approximation Problems written by Chiu-Cheng Chang and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994 with Mathematics categories.
This book introduces the concept of P¢lya property for holomorphic functions of two and several variables. The functions which have the P¢lya property are used to study the uniqueness problem for entire functions. This gives interesting results for a general class of generating functions. The functions with P¢lya property are also used as generating kernels in formal generating relations to study the expansion problem for entire functions. A necessary and sufficient condition is obtained for an entire function to have a unique expansion in a series of various known polynomials generated from the formal generating relations. In this book, it is shown that the uniqueness problem for entire functions of exponential type is equivalent to the approximation problem for analytic functions. This result, in combination with other results, produces many interesting theorems on the approximation of analytic functions. Since functions with P¢lya property have very useful applications, the study of a class of linear operators which preserve the P¢lya property is embarked upon and two sufficient conditions for an operator to be P¢lya-property-preserving are given.

Enlarged, updated, and extensively revised, this second edition illuminates specific problems of nonlinear elasticity, emphasizing the role of nonlinear material response. Opening chapters discuss strings, rods, and shells, and applications of bifurcation theory and the calculus of variations to problems for these bodies. Subsequent chapters cover tensors, three-dimensional continuum mechanics, three-dimensional elasticity , general theories of rods and shells, and dynamical problems. Each chapter includes interesting, challenging, and tractable exercises.

Excerpt from Problems of Expansion as Considered in Papers and Addresses 0 general have been the expressions as to the value of these scattered papers and addresses that I have thought it a useful service to gather them together from the authorized publications at the time, or, in some cases, from newspaper reports, and (with the consent of the Century Co. And of Mr. John Lane for the copyrighted arti cles) to embody them consecutively, in the order of their several dates, in this volume. The article entitled The Territory with which We are Threatened was prepared before the appointment of its author as a member of the Commission to negotiate terms of peace with Spain, and published only a few days afterward. This circum stance attracted unusual attention to its views about retaining the territory the country had taken. The author examines how systems connect, and the effects these connections have upon the successful adaptation of systems. His conclusions are explained using general concepts (such as, input, output, or operation), validated by theory, and are appli-cable to concrete systems. From these, it is principally the specifics of human thinking and behavior that have been examined in detail. The main point of this model is its new approach to, and new slant on, modern academic research. Yet the conclusions of the model do not contradict current trends in modern psychology, but rather are in harmony with other cultural systems beyond the scope of science (such as religion, art, common sense).
