Mathematical Methods For Robust And Nonlinear Control written by Matthew C. Turner and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-10-23 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The underlying theory on which much modern robust and nonlinear control is based can be difficult to grasp. This volume is a collection of lecture notes presented by experts in advanced control engineering. The book is designed to provide a better grounding in the theory underlying several important areas of control. It is hoped the book will help the reader to apply otherwise abstruse ideas of nonlinear control in a variety of real systems.

The purpose of this annual series, Applied and Computational Control, Signals, and Circuits, is to keep abreast of the fast-paced developments in computational mathematics and scientific computing and their increasing use by researchers and engineers in control, signals, and circuits. The series is dedicated to fostering effective communication between mathematicians, computer scientists, computational scientists, software engineers, theorists, and practicing engineers. This interdisciplinary scope is meant to blend areas of mathematics (such as linear algebra, operator theory, and certain branches of analysis) and computational mathematics (numerical linear algebra, numerical differential equations, large scale and parallel matrix computations, numerical optimization) with control and systems theory, signal and image processing, and circuit analysis and design. The disciplines mentioned above have long enjoyed a natural synergy. There are distinguished journals in the fields of control and systems the ory, as well as signal processing and circuit theory, which publish high quality papers on mathematical and engineering aspects of these areas; however, articles on their computational and applications aspects appear only sporadically. At the same time, there has been tremendous recent growth and development of computational mathematics, scientific comput ing, and mathematical software, and the resulting sophisticated techniques are being gradually adapted by engineers, software designers, and other scientists to the needs of those applied disciplines.

Top researchers in optimization and control from around the world gathered in Detroit for the 18th annual IFIP TC7 Conference on Systems Modelling and Optimization held in July 1997. The papers offered in this volume were selected from among the 250 plenary, invited, and contributed works presented at the conference. The editors chose these papers to represent the myriad and diverse range of topics within the field -in theory and applications-and to disseminate important new results. The editors have organized the book into seven sections: Distributed Parameter Systems Modelling Optimal Control and Nonsmoooth Analysis Automotive Optimization and Operations Research Applications · Reliability Each section contains important advances in theoretical development of optimization and control, new results, and discussions of applications. Treatment of numerous and wide- ranging applications-from turbulent flows, European option pricing, and storage location, to wear processes, passive fire protection, and robotics-make this resource important for academic and industrial researchers working in a variety of areas in systems engineering and applied mathematics.

Nonlinear Regression Modeling For Engineering Applications written by R. Russell Rhinehart and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-26 with Mathematics categories.

Since mathematical models express our understanding of how nature behaves, we use them to validate our understanding of the fundamentals about systems (which could be processes, equipment, procedures, devices, or products). Also, when validated, the model is useful for engineering applications related to diagnosis, design, and optimization. First, we postulate a mechanism, then derive a model grounded in that mechanistic understanding. If the model does not fit the data, our understanding of the mechanism was wrong or incomplete. Patterns in the residuals can guide model improvement. Alternately, when the model fits the data, our understanding is sufficient and confidently functional for engineering applications. This book details methods of nonlinear regression, computational algorithms, model validation, interpretation of residuals, and useful experimental design. The focus is on practical applications, with relevant methods supported by fundamental analysis. This book will assist either the academic or industrial practitioner to properly classify the system, choose between the various available modeling options and regression objectives, design experiments to obtain data capturing critical system behaviors, fit the model parameters based on that data, and statistically characterize the resulting model. The author has used the material in the undergraduate unit operations lab course and in advanced control applications.

Control Performance Assessment Theoretical Analyses And Industrial Practice written by Paweł D. Domański and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-09-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book presents a comprehensive review of currently available Control Performance Assessment methods. It covers a broad range of classical and modern methods, with a main focus on assessment practice, and is intended to help practitioners learn and properly perform control assessment in the industrial reality. Further, it offers an educational guide for control engineers, who are currently in high demand in the industry. The book consists of three main parts. Firstly, a comprehensive review of available approaches is presented and discussed. The classical canon methods are extended with a discussion of nonlinear and complex alternative measures using non-Gaussian statistics, persistence and fractional calculations. Secondly, the methods’ applicability aspects are visualized with the aid of computer simulations, covering the most popular control philosophies used in the process industry. Lastly, a critical review of the methods discussed, on the basis of real-world industrial examples, rounds out the coverage.
