RENEWABLE ENERGY INNOVATIONS This critical text, designed for microbiologists, biotechnologists, entrepreneurs, process engineers, chemical engineers, electrical engineers, physicists, and environmentalists, assesses the current knowledge about lab-scale and large-scale production of renewable and sustainable fuels, chemicals, and materials. Global warming is having a huge impact on the world’s ecosystem. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on rivers and lakes is breaking up early, and plant and animal ranges have relocated. On a worldwide scale, the threat posed by climate change and pollution is obvious. A green and sustainable future necessitates using renewable resources to produce fuels, chemicals, and materials. This book investigates diverse bioprocesses that are crucial to everyday life, including the key concerns regarding the generation of biofuels, energy, and food securities, along with waste management. Commercial interest in biotechnological processes has risen to produce pharmaceuticals, health supplements, foodstuffs, biofuels, and chemicals using a biocatalyst such as enzymes, microorganisms, plant cells, or animal cells in a bioreactor. The sustainability of renewable biomass, replacement of depleted fossil fuels, and the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from the existing chemical and oil industries are the key benefits of switching to bioproducts. This book discusses bioprocessing to produce biofuels, biobased chemicals, bioproducts, and biomass biorefinery processes. This involves designing novel pretreatment and fractionation technologies for lignocellulose biomass into cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin and the conversion of these streams into biofuels and biobased chemicals via biochemical and thermochemical routes. This book also covers the advancement of oleaginous microorganisms for biofuels and nutraceutical, biological wastewater treatment. Written and edited by authors from leading biotechnology research groups from across the world, this exciting new volume covers all of these technologies, including the basic concepts and the problems and solutions involved with the practical applications in the real world. Whether for the veteran engineer or scientist, student, manager, or another technician working in the field, this volume is essential for any library.

Optimizing Biofuel Production with Artificial Intelligence will help readers discover how integrating artificial intelligence with biotechnological advancements can revolutionize biofuel production, ensuring a sustainable energy future in response to pressing global challenges like pollution and climate change. This book presents artificial intelligence as a technique to aid the production of biofuels. Recently, tremendous developments have been made in energy and environmental biotechnologies, spurred by societal issues like pollution control, energy security, and climate change. Energy can be obtained from a variety of sources, including coal, oil, natural gas, solar, wind, and nuclear energy. The need to transition to new energy results from finite resources and economic sustainability. Biotechnological process optimization is crucial for ensuring a quality final product and boosting bioconversion performance efficiency. When combined with traditional simulation and modeling methods, artificial intelligence and computer technology can help define ideal process parameters and save total process costs. The energy sector can benefit from artificial intelligence in several ways, including increased asset efficiency, early detection and assessment of wildfire risks, assistance with vegetation management and storm recovery, and optimized energy use. The new frontier for energy is biomass.

Biojet Fuel Current Technology And Future Prospect written by Arindam Kuila and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-02-20 with Science categories.
This book covers the basic knowledge of biojet fuel, explores the current technological status, and presents future prospects for commercial biojet fuel production. The focus of this book is on biojet fuel production from different types of potential substrates. It also includes technoeconomic analysis and life cycle assessment of biojet fuel. Biojet fuel is currently recognized as the best alternative to petroleum-based jet fuel due to its renewability and sustainable features. However, there is a scarcity of reports on biojet fuel production from various types of substrates. The aviation industry globally consumes approximately 200 million tonnes of jet fuels each year, with a projected continuous growth rate of 5% per year until 2050 (Seymour et al., 2020). Currently, the global demand for jet fuel is predominantly met by petroleum-based fuels. However, the limited availability of fossil fuels and increasing concerns about climate change have placed significant pressure on commercial airlines to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and embrace cleaner and more sustainable practices. Biojet fuel has emerged as the most favorable alternative to petroleum-based jet fuel due to its renewable nature and sustainable characteristics. Despite its potential, there is a limited number of reports available on the production of biojet fuel from different types of substrates. The present scenario of biojet fuel necessitates the development of improved and cost-effective technologies that can yield long-term benefits. The book is useful for students and researchers in various branches of life sciences, including environmental biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, renewable energy, chemical engineering, nanotechnology, biotechnology, microbiology, and more.

Circular Bioeconomy Perspectives In Sustainable Bioenergy Production written by Gurunathan Baskar and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-08-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book covers the various technological developments and challenges in converting biomass residues into different forms of bioenergy. The continuous increase in the world population increased the demand for food products. The incorporation of modern technologies in agriculture increased the production of various food products, ending with excess generation of agricultural biomass residues from primary and secondary agriculture industries. Since, these biomass residues are a rich source of valuable bioproducts, they can be converted into various forms of bioenergy, such as biogas, biochar, biooil, biodiesel, and bioethanol. Besides, this approach is expected to address the gaps in biomass residue management and transformation to valuable bioproducts, and it also enhances the circular economy perspective. The book can be a valuable reference for beginners, researchers, and professionals interested in sustainable construction and allied fields.

Energy Options Impact On Regional Security written by Frano Barbir and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-09-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Energy appears to be a fundamental driving force of economic and political strategies as well as planetary stability. Energy-related issues such as (1) the availability of new energy sources and viable technologies, (2) the disparity in access to energy sources, (3) the role of energy in our societies (energy societal metabolism), (4) the energy support to the life of our cities (where about half of world population is going to live very soon), and (5) the energy demand for food security all over the world, are “hot” problems that humans will have to face within the framework of sustainability (ecologically sound production and consumption patterns associated with socially acce- able life styles), in terms of policies, technological development and economic processes. A coherent energy strategy is required, addressing both energy supply and demand, security of access, development problems, equity, market dynamics, by also taking into account the whole energy lifecycle including fuel production, transmission and distribution, energy conversion, and the impact on energy equipment manufacturers and the end-users of energy systems. Issues of energy efficiency and rebound effect must also be taken into proper account. In the short term, the aim should be to achieve higher energy efficiencies and increased supply from local energy sources, in particular renewable energy sources.
