Der Verbraucher findet sich auf dem Versicherungsmarkt ohne fremde Hilfe nicht zurecht, da Versicherungen aufgrund der Fülle von Informationen für ihn intransparent sind. Versicherungsprodukte müssen daher transparenter und überhaupt erst vergleichbar werden. Die Arbeit widmet sich daher den Fragen: Warum ist die Versicherung so komplex? Bedarf das Produkt Versicherung einer Umstrukturierung? Welche Informationen sind für den Versicherungsnehmer überhaupt wichtig, und ist die Verwendung von Rechtssprache für die Übermittlung dieser Informationen erforderlich? Es soll gezeigt werden, dass die Idee der Produktstandardisierung dem oben genannten Missstand abhelfen kann. Hierfür wird die Rolle der technischen Normung und der nationalen und europäischen Normungsorganisationen beleuchtet und gezeigt, dass Standardisierung in vielen Bereichen vorkommt und immer zahlreiche Vorteile mit sich gebracht hat, u. a. die Erhöhung der Transparenz. Eine europäische Norm für Versicherungen, die eine echte Vergleichbarkeit ermöglicht, würde zudem den Grundstein für einen funktionierenden europäischen Wettbewerb für Versicherungen legen, der bisher für Verbraucherversicherungen nicht besteht. Die Arbeit entwickelt einen Vorschlag, wie derartige Produktstandards für ein europäisches Versicherungsprodukt aussehen könnten. Die Dissertation richtet sich an Juristen des Versicherungs-, Wettbewerbs- und Europarechts und dürfte zudem für viele Standardisierungsinitiativen interessant sein. Die Verfasserin wurde 1987 in Berlin geboren und studierte an der Humboldt-Universität Rechtswissenschaften. Anschließend promovierte sie dort als Stipendiatin des Vereins zur Förderung der Versicherungswissenschaft in Berlin e.V. bei Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Schwintowski am Lehrstuhl für Bürgerliches Recht, Handelsrecht, Wirtschaftsrecht und Europarecht. Seit 2017 ist sie Rechtsreferendarin am Kammergericht Berlin.
