A indisciplina escolar é motivo de discussões dos sujeitos envolvidos no contexto escolar. É necessário questioná-la, porém de uma forma que não se limite ao fatalismo e ao pessimismo. É isso que Edvanderson Ramalho dos Santos propõe com o viés das representações sociais e do desenvolvimento moral da Epistemologia Genética de Piaget. O livro é útil aos professores que atuam na educação básica, gestores escolares, acadêmicos de licenciatura – que tanto precisam de exemplos de práticas pedagógicas para se inspirar sobre o que fazer (e o que não fazer!). O autor demonstra que há dois grupos de professores com representações sobre a indisciplina. Majoritariamente, os docentes mantêm uma "representação vitimizante" em que atribuem a fatores externos suas causas, o que os leva ao comodismo. As atitudes são de heteronomia e há saudosismo dos velhos tempos, onde era possível aplicar métodos coercitivos para manter a disciplina. Suas ações levam à escalada dos conflitos na geopolítica imaginária, pois quanto mais coagem os alunos, mais conflito gera-se. Em oposição, um subgrupo de professores compartilha "uma representação protagonista", buscando dar a melhor resposta de caráter pedagógico ao problema. Nessa busca, aderem a práticas autônomas na instauração de relações baseadas na cooperação social e na afetividade com seus alunos. Edvanderson demonstra que esses professores são os que menos sofrem com a indisciplina, pois suas atitudes levam ao apaziguamento da geopolítica imaginária.
