"Delphi Programming Essentials" Delve into the heart of modern software development with "Delphi Programming Essentials," an authoritative guide for experienced developers and software architects seeking mastery of the Delphi platform. This comprehensive volume begins with an in-depth exploration of Delphi's core language fundamentals, unraveling its Pascal-based syntax, advanced memory management paradigms, and robust modularization strategies. Readers will uncover the intricacies of Delphi's powerful type system and learn best practices for error handling, complex program flows, and modular development, establishing a foundation for crafting efficient, maintainable applications. Building upon this foundation, the book transitions into advanced object-oriented design with Delphi, emphasizing sophisticated constructs such as metaprogramming, generics, and anonymous methods. It details the creation of modular, reusable components and explores the depths of both the Visual Component Library (VCL) and FireMonkey (FMX) frameworks, providing guidance for scalable, cross-platform application development. Comprehensive chapters on data access, multitier architectures, and real-time network communication empower professionals to architect enterprise-grade systems with efficiency, security, and resilience at their core. Recognizing the demands of today’s fast-evolving technology landscape, "Delphi Programming Essentials" also covers concurrent programming, rigorous testing, cross-platform deployment, and secure coding practices. Practical advice on cloud integration, deployment strategies, and continuous delivery is accompanied by expert discussions on maintainability, refactoring, and compliance. Whether modernizing legacy systems or building state-of-the-art Delphi applications from the ground up, this book is the essential reference for achieving high-quality, sustainable Delphi solutions in today’s competitive environment.

Create modern yet effective multi-platform applications by building interactive UIs following a single codebase approach to boost productivity Key FeaturesDelve into the FireMonkey framework and explore its powerful capabilitiesEnhance the user experience by using various technologies included in Delphi and FMXBoost developer productivity through the cross-platform capabilities enabled by the frameworkBook Description FireMonkey (FMX) is a cross-platform application framework that allows developers to create exciting user interfaces and deliver applications on multiple operating systems (OS). This book will help you learn visual programming with Delphi and FMX. Starting with an overview of the FMX framework, including a general discussion of the underlying philosophy and approach, you’ll then move on to the fundamentals and architectural details of FMX. You’ll also cover a significant comparison between Delphi and the Visual Component Library (VCL). Next, you’ll focus on the main FMX components, data access/data binding, and style concepts, in addition to understanding how to deliver visually responsive UIs. To address modern application development, the book takes you through topics such as animations and effects, and provides you with a general introduction to parallel programming, specifically targeting UI-related aspects, including application responsiveness. Later, you’ll explore the most important cross-platform services in the FMX framework, which are essential for delivering your application on multiple platforms while retaining the single codebase approach. Finally, you’ll learn about FMX’s built-in 3D functionalities. By the end of this book, you’ll be familiar with the FMX framework and be able to build effective cross-platform apps. What you will learnExplore FMX’s fundamental components with a brief comparison to VCLAchieve visual responsiveness through alignment capabilities and layout componentsEnrich the user experience with the help of transitions and visual animationsGet to grips with data access and visual data bindingBuild exciting and responsive UIs for desktop and mobile platformsUnderstand the importance of responsive applications using parallel programmingCreate visual continuity through your applications with TFrameStand and TFormStandExplore the 3D functionalities offered by FMXWho this book is for This book is for Delphi developers who are looking to discover the full potential of the FireMonkey framework in order to build interactive cross-platform GUI applications and achieve an optimal UI/UX. Extreme Programming has come a long way since its ?rst use in the C3 project almost 10 years ago. Agile methods have found their way into the mainstream, and at the end of last year we saw the second edition of Kent Beck’s book on Extreme Programming, containing a major refactoring of XP. This year, the 6th International Conference on Extreme Programming and Agile Processes in Software Engineering took place June 18–23 in She?eld. As in the yearsbefore, XP 2005provideda unique forum for industry and academic professionals to discuss their needs and ideas on Extreme Programming and - ile methodologies. These proceedings re?ect the activities during the conference which ranged from presentation of research papers, invited talks, posters and demonstrations, panels and activity sessions, to tutorials and workshops. - cluded are also papers from the Ph.D. and Master’s Symposium which provided a forum for young researchers to present their results and to get feedback. Asvariedastheactivities werethe topicsofthe conferencewhichcoveredthe presentationofnewandimprovedpractices, empiricalstudies, experiencereports and case studies, and last but not least the social aspects of agile methods. The papers and the activities went through a rigorous reviewing process. Each paper was reviewed by at least three Program Committee members and wasdiscussedcarefullyamongtheProgramCommittee.Of62paperssubmitted, only 22 were accepted as full papers.

ThesearetheproceedingsoftheInternationalWorkshoponProgrammingMulti- Agent Systems (ProMAS 2008), the sixth of a series of workshops that is aimed at discussing and providing an overview of current state-of-the-art technology for programming multi-agent systems. The aim of the ProMAS workshop series is to promote research on progr- ming technologies and tools that can e?ectively contribute to the development and deployment of multi-agent systems. In particular, the workshop promotes the discussion and exchange of ideas concerning the techniques, concepts, - quirements, and principles that are important for establishing multi-agent p- gramming platforms that are useful in practice and have a theoretically sound basis. Topics addressed include but are not limited to the theory and app- cations of agent programming languages, the veri?cation and analysis of agent systems,aswellastheimplementationofsocialstructureinagent-basedsystems (e. g. ,roleswithin organizations, coordinationandcommunicationin multi-agent systems). In its previous editions, ProMAS constituted an invaluable occasion bringing together leading researchers from both academia and industry to discuss issues on the design of programming languages and tools for multi-agent systems. We were very pleased to be able to again present a range of high-quality papers at ProMAS 2008. After ?ve successful editions of the ProMAS workshop series, which took place during AAMAS 2003 (Melbourne, Australia), AAMAS 2004 (New York, USA), AAMAS 2005 (Utrecht, The Netherlands), AAMAS 2006 (Hakodate, Japan), and AAMAS 2007 (Honolulu, Hawai’i), the sixth edition took place on May 13 in Estoril, Portugal, in conjunction with AAMAS 2008, the main international conference on autonomous agents and MAS.
