"Developing User Interfaces" is targeted at the programmer who will actually implement, rather than design, the user-interface. Useful to programmers using any language--no particular windowing system or toolkit is presumed, examples are drawn from a variety of commercial systems, and code examples are presented in pseudo-code. The basic concepts of traditional computer graphics such as drawing and 3D modeling are covered for readers without a computer graphics background.

The user interface is the bridge between players and the game universe, it is the bidirectional flow of information from realtime simulation systems to the player's mind. As games have evolved, so has the need to develop intuitive, responsive and visually stunning ways for the player to interact with the game universe. User Interface Programming for Games aims to give programmers the core knowledge behind modern user interface development, provide useful techniques and recipes for well known user interface elements and insights into many of the different areas in which user interface programmers ultimately venture in the development cycle of a game. The best tool programmers can have at their disposal is a solid understanding of the mathematics and graphics programming concepts that are the foundation under any user interface system, this book explains it in a way that is relevant to user interface and game programmers alike.

This book will enable you to build dynamic web pages on the fly, and it assumes only the most basic knowledge of C#. The book provides exhaustive coverage of ASP.NET, guiding you from your first steps right up to the most advanced techniques, such as querying databases from within a web page and tuning your site for optimal performance. Within these pages, you'll find tips for “best practices” and comprehensive discussions of key database and XML principles you need to know in order to be effective with ASP.NET. The book also emphasizes the invaluable coding techniques of object orientation and code behind, which will start you off on the track to building real–world web sites right from the beginning—rather than just faking it with simplified coding practices. By the time you've finished the book, you will have mastered the core techniques and have all the knowledge you need to begin work as a professional ASP.NET developer.

User Interfaces in C#: Windows Forms and Custom Controls goes beyond simply covering the Windows Forms namespaces by combining a careful treatment of the API with a detailed discussion of good user-interface design principles. The combination will show you how to create the next generation of software applications using the .NET Framework. After reading User Interfaces in C#: Windows Forms and Custom Controls, you'll know how to design state-of-the-art application interfaces, as well as how to extend .NET controls, create data-binding strategies, program graphics, and much more. This book contains the following: An overview of how to design elegant user interfaces the average user can understand. A comprehensive examination of the user interface controls and classes in .NET. Best practices and design tips for coding user interfaces and integrating help Although this book isn't a reference, it does contain detailed discussions about every user interface element you'll use on a regular basis. But you won't just learn how to use .NET controlsyou'll learn how and why to extend them, with owner-drawn menus, irregularly shaped forms, and custom controls tailored for specific types of data. As a developer, you need to know more than how to add a control to a window. You also need to know how to create an entire use interface framework that's scalable, flexible, and reusable.

In this book, I shall show you how to reuse the graphics classes provided in JDK to construct your own Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications. Writing your own graphics classes (and re-inventing the wheels) is mission impossible! These graphics classes, developed by expert programmers, are highly complex and involve many advanced design patterns. However, re-using them is not so difficult if you follow the API documentation, samples, and templates. I shall assume you have a good grasp of OOP, including inheritance and polymorphism; otherwise, read the earlier book. I will describe another important concept called nested class (or inner class) in this article. There are two sets of Java APIs for graphics programming: AWT (Abstract Windowing Toolkit) and Swing. AWT API was introduced in JDK 1.0. Most of the AWT components have become obsolete and should be replaced by newer Swing components. Swing API, a much more comprehensive set of graphics libraries that enhances the AWT, was introduced as part of Java Foundation Classes (JFC) after the release of JDK 1.1. JFC consists of Swing, Java2D, Accessibility, Internationalization, and Pluggable Look-and-Feel Support APIs. JFC has been integrated into core Java since JDK 1.2. Other than AWT/Swing Graphics APIs provided in JDK, others have also provided Graphics APIs that work with Java, such as Eclipse's Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT) (used in Eclipse), Google Web Toolkit (GWT) (used in Android), 3D Graphics API such as Java bindings for OpenGL (JOGL) and Java3D. What You Will Learn - Introduction - Programming GUI with AWT - AWT Event-Handling - Nested (Inner) Classes - Event Listener's Adapter Classes - Layout Managers and Panel - Swing - More on Swing's components - Pluggable Look and Feel - More on Layout Manager - More on Event-Handling - (Advanced) Observer Design Pattern - (Advanced) Composite Design Pattern - (Advanced) More on Nested Classes Who This Book Is For If you are a JAVA developer who wants to learn more about developing applications with Graphical and scaling them with industry-standard practices, this is the book for you.

The fun, fast, and easy way to learn programming fundamentals and essentials – from C to Visual Basic and all the languages in between So you want to be a programmer? Or maybe you just want to make your computer do what YOU want for a change? Maybe you enjoy the challenge of identifying a problem and solving it. If programming intrigues you (for whatever reason), Beginning Programming All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies is like having a starter programming library all in one handy, if hefty, book. In this practical guide, you'll find out about algorithms, best practices, compiling, debugging your programs, and much more. The concepts are illustrated in several different programming languages, so you'll get a feel for the variety of languages and the needs they fill. Inside you'll discover seven minibooks: Getting Started: From learning methods for writing programs to becoming familiar with types of programming languages, you'll lay the foundation for your programming adventure with this minibook. Programming Basics: Here you’ll dive into how programs work, variables, data types, branching, looping, subprograms, objects, and more. Data Structures: From structures, arrays, sets, linked lists, and collections, to stacks, queues, graphs, and trees, you'll dig deeply into the data. Algorithms: This minibook shows you how to sort and search algorithms, how to use string searching, and gets into data compression and encryption.
