SHELVING GUIDE: Project Management This hands-on guide is written for project professionals seeking to find an optimized way of performing project management. It provides answers to such critical questions as: Why should an organization apply project management? What is the value of project management in the broader context of an organization? Is project management as successful as some advocates suggested or is it a waste of time and resources because of the many extensive and bureaucratic processes? Which project management approach should our project team adopt: predictive or adaptive, waterfall or rolling water, extreme programming or Scrum? This book aims to provide an optimized view of project management by balancing and blending competing methodologies (e.g., traditional versus Agile), lengthy methodologies and broad principles, processes and practices, and the need to understand versus the need to apply. It includes project management templates, an integrated case study illustrating how to apply tools and concepts, and a glossary of key terms. Optimizing Project Management is for both aspiring and practicing project management professionals. It covers the core concepts, practices, and skills that are useful for developing new ideas, planning activities, implementing projects, and conducting planning and controlling of schedule, budget, and scope. The text is particularly useful for students, project professionals wanting to refresh their knowledge, and those pursuing project management certifications. This book is aligned with common project management standards such as the Project Management Body of Knowledge and the ISO 21502: Project, Programme and Portfolio Management — Guidance on Project Management.

Program Management concerns the long-term planning, coordination, and control of major technological, engineering, scientific, and/or developmental activities. In general, programs tend to be exceptionally large, consisting of several parallel or sequential projects or groups of projects. While many of the approaches developed for projects have been used in program management, there are critical differences between programs and projects. A key difference is the magnitude of programs, both in program duration and number of tasks to be coordinated. In addition, project parameters are driven by program decisions. While a large number of modeling efforts have focused at the project level, very - little optimization literature deals directly with aspects of initial program design and development. This thesis effort looks at the application of optimization techniques to the initial design and development of multi-project programs. The classic work breakdown structure is used as a framework for Dantzig-Wolfe Decomposition to provide an aggregate model for investigating the effects of funding levels, resource allocation, and program durations.

Comprehensive Project Management written by Adedeji Bodunde Badiru and has been published by Prentice Hall this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Business & Economics categories.

Project Management -- the process of managing, allocating, and timing resources to achieve a given goal in an efficient and expedient manner -- has emerged as a separate discipline that is being increasingly embraced by various sectors, ranging from business to engineering. Comprehensive in perspective, this book presents an approach to project management -- from planning through implementation -- that integrates qualitative and quantitative techniques . Practical in approach, it demonstrates with numerous examples how three categories of tools -- management practices, optimization models, and computer applications -- complement one another to enhance overall project management. Considers traditional project management techniques, modern applications of operations research methodologies, and computer applications -- as well as supporting topics such as forecasting and inventory management. Reviews other methodologies, such as regression analysis and decision making methodologies that a project manager can utilize. Organizes chapters hierarchically to illustrate the incremental steps in a project management process -- from setting project goals to terminating the project. Features numerous examples and a chapter-length case study. For Industrial Engineers and Operations Managers.

Time Cost Optimization Of Building Projects written by Uzair Waheed and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-08-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Traditional wisdom suggests that when it comes to construction projects, any effort that might be made to shorten the planned schedule will necessarily lead to increased costs. In Time-Cost Optimization of Building Projects, however, author Uzair Waheed, B.E., PMP shows that it might just be possible, under certain conditions, to actually decrease both time and cost for building projects. After examining the existing research on the relationship between time and cost in construction projects, the author provides an overview of the project management process and examines the various stagesincluding initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closingthat managers and engineers need to consider as they embark upon a new building project.
