Artist Jessica Stone has a death sentence, an inoperable brain tumor. As her health declines, Jess is compelled to paint the captivating image of a mythical realm protected by a crystal called the Rose Stone. A mysterious crimson glow infuses the canvas, and Jess wakes in the Commonwealth of the Rose. She meets Griffin, a warrior engaged in a struggle with the malevolent darkling, who seeks to control the power of the Rose Stone. With Griffin’s help, Jess evades the darkling’s assassins. Then the hallucination vanishes, and she discovers her connection to the Rose Stone may run deeper than mere illusion. Torn between two worlds, Jess battles the darkling in one and a tumor in the other while struggling to determine her true reality. Is the Rose Stone a dream, a hallucination, or a summons to something greater?

Daring To Dream written by Carol Farley Kessler and has been published by Syracuse University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-10-01 with Fiction categories.

Daring to Dream recovers for readers three full-length utopias never before reprinted in their entirety, four short utopian stories, and significant excerpts from five utopian novels, each carefully selected to maintain the integrity of the original. The book thus provides an overview of utopias by women in the United States from texts not otherwise easily available. Together they provide a foreground for, and feminist revision of, Edward Bellamy's popular and influential Looking\Backward (1888), as well as the imaginative underpinnings for the late twentieth-century outpouring of feminist utopias. A female narrator in 1870 dreams of a role reversal in a story in which men are confined to housekeeping and baby tending, and women run the country and enjoy all the privileges. In an 1885 short story, women emigrate from the eastern states to the Territory of Washington, where only women are voters. In the 1949 piece, "A Visitor from Venus," the visitor, accustomed to an all female Venusian society, reports her dismay at Earth's sex-biased arrangements. In addition to these twelve selections, this new edition includes a valuable annotated bibliography of utopias written by United States women from 1836-1988.

Kiev, 1875: Josef Rosenberg narrowly escapes death from a Cossack raid, rescuing Tanya, the youngest daughter of his old friend Boris Anatov. Fleeing to a new life in England, his skill as a diamond cutter—and the notoriety of being the man who cut the famed Rose Stone—are the foundation of success and security. But even as his reputation for fine jewelry flourishes, and Josef’s new family grows large and wealthy, the thought of the Rose Stone—and of what had been done to acquire it—will cast a dark shadow of guilt and revenge, eclipsing generations to come . . .

Will your home stand firm when the torrents of life come bursting at the foundation? Certainly, if it's built on the foundation of Christ alone. Is your marriage troubled? Has your spouse or child been lifted on eagle's wings to heaven unexpectedly? Has your doctor explained a dreaded prognosis? Does the ground quake with financial uncertainties? These are the times when you need solid rock! Hopeless secular humanism builds on sinking sand and changing ideas. Yet, believers from every generation have found strength by entrusting their future into God's hands. When you study God's Word, with determination to obey, you are building on Christ-faith's cornerstone. We will build upon this foundation by studying the Spirit's use of stone typology in scripture, to reveal foundations of Christian faith and how to live for Christ as He intended. Rock solid truth equips you to stand firm in faith and to give an account of the hope within you, for God's glory. Mark Day is a student of God's Word and diligently examines Biblical truth. He appreciates practical applications from personal study that impact how to live the Christian life. For over 40 years, Mark has enjoyed sound Biblical teaching from excellent Pastors, has grown through leading men's fellowship groups, teaching Bible classes and encouraging believers through hospital visitation ministries. He has discovered that believers need to stand firm on solid truth, especially during testing and trials. He has written several articles on Christian doctrines to encourage others. Precious Stones, which is the culmination of a ten year research project, was written as a heritage for his children, and prays that you too will find increased strength through this Bible study. Mark is a Software Engineer, living in Southern California. He and his wife Cherie have three children and five grandchildren.

When their parents are discovered brutally murdered in a ditch, Kenya and London are left orphaned; forced to navigate through the unforgiving streets of Detroit alone. They might be identical twins, but they are as different as night and day. With one fighting relentlessly to make it out of the ghetto, the other eagerly embraces everything their deceased parents believed in: selling drugs, living fast, and even dying young if it means getting paid. Kenya is coldhearted and crazy, just like her Pops. Nothing is off limits, and no one else matters—not even her sister, if she gets in her way. Blood may be thicker than water, but in one sister’s eyes, cash is king; it’s her only family, and most definitely the head of her conniving household! After several brutal experiences, the sisters are forced to flee Detroit, and once again their lives are turned upside down. This time, the consequences could land them both in jail—or dead and unclaimed in the county morgue.
