Poems Of Life written by Charles Harrison and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-02 with Poetry categories.

These poems were written by a retired physician who had never had any experience as a professional writer. He had always had a love of poetry, but didn't have the time to pursue this endeavor. He learned early on that he had an aptitude for poetic writing. He was encouraged by his wife and many close friends who read some of his first poems. These poems cover a large range of events which could be encountered in life. The poems are encompassing enough that people from many cultural and ethnic backgrounds should be able to find them quite interesting. They are not based in totality on any specific occurrences which the author encountered. His life as an Afro- American, growing up in the South during the era of Segregation and during the Great Depression did have a great influence on his writing.

What links the popular songs "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Send in the Clowns", "Memory" and "I Am What I Am"? They all originated in Broadway musicals. Song of the Season is for those who believe that the score is at the heart of a musical and is the essential building block on which the rest of a show is built. Through a systematic historical survey from 1891 to 2023 it argues that the best musicals survive because of their songs, from early 20th century classics such as Show Boat and Oklahoma! through to the contemporary sound of Dear Evan Hansen and Hamilton. looking at outstanding songs from each Broadway season, the development and history of the musical is illustrated with a fresh perspective. As song styles and popular music tastes changed throughout the decades this structure charts the progress of American showtunes alongside popular music forms as songs evolved from the waltz and ragtime to jazz, rock, rap and hip-hop. Factual analysis and historical context combine to offer a rich picture of the American songbook from Irving Berlin to Elton John. Song of the Season paints a fresh picture for musical theatre students and fans alike, illustrating significant changes in the form through the music. Analyzed in an accessible and engaging way that doesn't rely on music theory knowledge, and including a link to playlist where all the 'songs of the seasons' can be listened to, it is a must-have for those looking to expand their knowledge of the form and trace the social history of the American showtune.

In a world where our interactions with others shape our lives in profound ways, it is essential to have a deep understanding of the moral principles that should guide our behavior. This book explores the foundations of morality, examining the concepts of fairness, justice, responsibility, rights, and duties. It also considers the role of cooperation, trust, love, and compassion in our moral lives. Drawing on a range of philosophical perspectives, the book argues that morality is not a fixed set of rules, but rather a dynamic and evolving set of principles that must be constantly reinterpreted and applied in light of new challenges. As our societies change, so too must our understanding of morality. We must be willing to question our existing moral assumptions and to develop new principles that are responsive to the needs of our changing world. This book is an invitation to engage in a thought-provoking conversation about the foundations of morality. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to live an ethical and fulfilling life. Readers will gain a deeper understanding of: * The foundations of morality * The principles that govern our obligations to each other * The role of fairness, justice, responsibility, rights, and duties in our moral lives * The importance of cooperation, trust, love, and compassion * The challenges facing morality in the 21st century This book is essential reading for anyone interested in ethics, philosophy, or the human condition.
