The Psalms forced Martin Luther to change how he read the Bible. In Psalms of the Faithful Brian German shows us Luther's reappraisal of the plain sense of Scripture. By following the canonical shaping of the Psalter, Luther refined his interpretive principles into a more finely grained hermeneutic. Luther inspires us to read the Psalms empathetically with ancient Israelites and early church fathers. He stirs us up to join the "faithful synagogue" in praying to and praising the Lord our God. According to many scholars, Luther established his approach to biblical exegesis on the claim that Jesus Christ is Scripture's content and speaker. While Luther used this formulation in prefaces, how did he really read the Bible? German applies pressure not only to how Luther scholars understand Luther's interpretive method, but also to how modern biblical exegetes approach their task—and even to how we read the Bible.

40 Days in Psalms is part of a series of devotionals written for any Christian desiring to deepen his or her understanding of Scripture. The Holy Spirit uses God’s Word to grow believers in their faith and increase their passion for Jesus. As each volume focuses on a particular book in the Bible, believers will find the study useful for the enrichment of daily devotional reading or as the basis for small group Bible study discussion. In this volume, readers will be led through a daily study of the Gospel of Mark. 40 Days in Psalms breaks down the book of Psalms into chunks that present the “Big Picture” of the passage, then “Digging Deeper” into that section, and then moving to help the reader into “Living Out” the lessons that are taught in each section.

Exalting Jesus in Psalms, Volume 2, Psalms 101-150 is part of the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary series. Edited by David Platt, Daniel L. Akin, and Tony Merida, this commentary series, to include 47 volumes when complete, takes a Christ-centered approach to expositing each book of the Bible. Rather than a verse-by-verse approach, the authors have crafted chapters that explain and apply key passages in their assigned Bible books. Readers will learn to see Christ in all aspects of Scripture, and they will be encouraged by the devotional nature of each exposition presented as sermons and divided into chapters that conclude with a “Reflect & Discuss” section, making this series ideal for small group study, personal devotion, and even sermon preparation. It’s not academic but rather presents an easy reading, practical, and friendly commentary. The authors of Exalting Jesus in Psalms, Volume 2, Psalms 101-150 are Daniel Akin, Johnny Hunt, and Tony Merida.

The poems contained in this book were all written at key points in my life. In essence, each poem served as a source of inspiration to get me through dark times and remind me of my dependency on the grace of God. Each piece included in this book focuses on salvation and who you are in God! You may notice that some of these pieces have a unique flow and structure that one would normally associate with lyrics to a song, and such pieces can be converted to contemporary Gospel songs. Because of the connection between these poems and my heart, I feel these are my most personal work. This book is the first of more to come. I hope that in reading these short pieces you too can be inspired to believe. I believe these poems will inspire you, no matter where you may find yourself in life, as they will serve to remind you that you are somebody because God values you! The greatest message God ever proclaimed to humanity was through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus through His death upon the cross. We live in a world that does not value human dignity, a world that treats people as if they are commodities! But I hope to introduce you through these writings, to a higher love. It is my desire that you learn to see yourself through the eyes of God rather than through the eyes of the world! Remember, better is not good enough! The best is yet to come.

This volume follows the general pattern of the series, opening with a discussion of content, of authorship, and of the way the collection came to be put together, followed by a psalm-by-psalm presentation of the NEB text with commentary. Dr Rogerson and Dr McKay stress the richness and variety of the material in the Psalms, and provide an analytical table of the predominant themes. They discuss the literary characteristics of Hebrew poetry with special reference to devices such as the acrostic, and examine the problems faced by the NEB translators. Over the years many different approaches have been made to the interoperation of the Psalms. The authors characterize these as the spiritual, the historical, the form-critical and the cultic approach, and their own commentary strikes an effective balance between them. One of their primary purposes is to bring out the religious teaching of permanent value within the Psalms.

Across the generations, many Christians have made a habit of praying monthly through all 150 psalms—the biblical songs that undergird much of our corporate worship and individual devotion. Over thousands of years of memorization, recitation, and singing, the people of God have found in the Psalms a God-centered view of reality that speaks to all our joys, trials, times of suffering, and experiences of faith and doubt. In Psalms in 30 Days, author and teacher Trevin Wax has adapted a centuries-old approach to reading the Psalms by providing a "Morning," "Midday" and "Evening" pattern, following the Scriptural precedent for praying three times a day. This journey through the Psalms features other songs from the Bible, confessions of faith, and written prayers from faithful Christians who have gone before us. Here is a guide to praying through the Psalms each month by lifting our eyes, three times a day, to see and experience the goodness and faithfulness of God in the midst of all things. Trevin Wax is senior vice president for Theology and Communications at Lifeway Christian Resources. Psalms in 30 Days features the highly readable, highly reliable text of the Christian Standard Bible® (CSB). The CSB stays as literal as possible to the Bible's original meaning without sacrificing clarity, making it easier to engage with Scripture's life-transforming message and to share it with others.
