Cognitive And Behavioral Abnormalities Of Pediatric Diseases written by Ruth D. Nass and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Medical categories.

This book provides a detailed account of intellectual, other neuropsychological and behavioral manifestations of general pediatric diseases. The conditions discussed include the whole range of pediatric diseases - genetic syndromes, other congenital conditions, metabolic, endocrine, gastrointestinal, infectious, immunologic, toxic, trauma, and neoplastic, as well as sensory disabilities including deafness and blindness. Although the book is not intended to discuss cognitive and behavioral manifestations of conditions usually considered to be primary neurological disease, some of those, including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, myotonic dystrophy and epilepsy, are included. Where possible, a "translational" approach is used, linking the behavioral and cognitive manifestations of these conditions, to the underlying structural, chemical or genetic abnormalities and their effect on the brain, and, in turn, on behavior and cognition. At the same time, included are significant psychosocial factors. Together, those factors have a major effect on patients' performance, including school performance, and on their families. This book is unique in its extensive coverage of the major pediatric conditions and of the detailed neurological, neuropsychological and behavioral aspects of each condition.

Neuroimmune Diseases written by Hiroshi Mitoma and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-11-18 with Science categories.

This Springer Major Reference Work provides a detailed translational overview of neuroimmune diseases for neuroscientists and clinicians, clarifying the pathological mechanisms underlying neuroimmune diseases and building a comprehensive bridge between the latest research findings and their clinical implications in daily practice. The material is presented in two steps. The first section comprises a review of the pathogenic actions of immune cells in brain diseases. Here the authors discuss the mechanisms through which immune cells disrupt the functions of nerve cells. The second section explores the ways in which the brain becomes dysfunctional due to impaired nerve cell function. Based on pathogenesis, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies are discussed for each clinical category. The new edition features updated chapters throughout, including coverage of new findings, new diagnostic criteria, and therapeutic algorithms. Neuroimmune Diseases, 2nd edition, also includes new chapters with a translational approach. The book will be invaluable for use in clinical practice of neuroimmune diseases.

Advanced Abnormal Psychology written by Michel Hersen and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Psychology categories.

Although senior undergraduate psychology students and first year master's- and doctoral-level students frequently take courses in advanced abnormal psychology, it has been almost two decades since a book by this title has appeared. Professors teaching this course have had a wide variety of texts to select from that touch on various aspects of psychopathology, but none has been as comprehensive for the student as the present volume. Not only are basic concepts and models included, but there are specific sections dealing with childhood and adolescent disorders, adult and geriatric disorders, child treatment, and adult treatment. We believe the professor and advanced student alike will benefit from having all the requisite material under one cover. Our book contains 26 chapters presented in five parts, each part preceded by an editors' introduction. The chapters reflect updates in the classification of disorders (i. e. , DSM-IV). In Part I (Basic Concepts and Models), the chapters include diagnosis and classification, assessment strategies, research methods, the psychoanalytic model, the behavioral model, and the biological model. Parts II (Childhood and Adolescent Disorders) and III (Adult and Older Adult Disorders), bulk of the book. To ensure cross each containing seven chapters, represent the chapter consistency, each of these chapters on psychopathology follows an identi cal format, with the following basic sections: description of the disorder, epidem iology, clinical picture (with case description), course and prognosis, familial and genetic patterns, and diagnostic considerations.
