Meine Motivation dieses Thema näher zu beleuchten, entstand aus der Teilnahme am Seminar von Norbert Höpfner zur Pädagogischen Diagnostik und dem Seminar von Ingmar Witt mit dem Arbeitstitel „Biografische Diagnostik im Strafvollzug“. Hier kam es immer wieder zu Diskussionen, ob Diagnostik wirklich in die Jugendhilfeplanung gehört oder doch eher in der Psychologie oder Medizin ihren Platz hat. Nach einer eingehenden Betrachtung der Begrifflichkeiten möchte ich in dieser Arbeit die Diagnostik als Teil der Jugendhilfe darstellen und den Bereich der Hilfen zur Erziehung herausgreifen. Orientieren werde ich mich hierbei schwerpunktmässig an Viola Harnach-Beck und deren Buch „Psychosoziale Diagnostik“. Ferner möchte ich Norbert Höpfner und seine Arbeitsweise am Institut für Pädagogische Diagnostik in Rösrath vorstellen.
