Do preaching and apologetics go together? If so, why and how? In a post-everything age where doubt is enshrined as a hallmark of truth and any claims to truth are highly suspect, how is a preacher to reach those with questions about the reliability of the Bible, the goodness of God, or the resurrection of Jesus? These questions and more are answered here, and a practical, workable method is provided for preachers who seek to bring together the pulpit and apologetics for both evangelism and discipleship.

Becoming A Pastor Theologian written by Todd Wilson and has been published by InterVarsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-10-27 with Religion categories.

The roles of pastor and theologian have gone their separate ways. Throughout much of the church's history, these two roles have been deeply intertwined, but in our contemporary setting, a troubling bifurcation between them has developed. The result has been a theologically weakened church and an ecclesially weakened theology. The Center for Pastor Theologians (CPT) seeks to overcome this divide by assisting pastors in the study and production of biblical and theological scholarship for the theological renewal of the church and the ecclesial renewal of theology. Based on the first CPT conference in 2015, this volume brings together the reflections of church leaders and academic theologians to consider how pastoral ministry and theological scholarship might be reconnected once again. The contributors consider several facets of the complex identity of the pastor theologian, including the biblical, public, and political dimensions of this calling. In addition, the essays explore the insights that can be gained from historical examples of pastor theologians—including John Calvin, John Henry Newman and Dietrich Bonhoeffer—as well as the essential role of Scripture within the ministry of the pastor theologian.

Pulpit Friction written by Ken Kinton and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-17 with Religion categories.

We live in an increasingly hostile political climate, and even within the church we can find the signs of political division. Yet the truth of the matter is that political dialogue has been around for millennia—even in the epic tales of Abraham, Joseph, and Moses—and the social and political issues during the time of Jesus’s public ministry are not that different from those we are encountering presently. Pulpit Friction looks at the challenges facing the church today as it seeks to strike a balance between its prophetic call and the political and social issues causing so much turmoil in our world. Author Ken Kinton offers both biblical and historical insights in an attempt to help Christians and the secular world live more harmoniously. In order for the church to have a meaningful impact on our nation’s political process, it needs to contribute to the political integrity of the process. By learning more about the church’s role in shaping political discourse, we as Christians can together become agents of positive change.

The Pastor As Apologist written by Dayton Hartman and has been published by B&H Publishing Group this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-04-15 with Religion categories.

In The Pastor as Apologist, Dayton Hartman and Michael McEwen attempt to recapture the pastoral role of apologetics. By ably speaking to their congregations about apologetical issues, pastors can be the first line of defense against doubt and attacks on the faith. Interweaving historical, theological, and philosophical attention to the conversation, Hartman and McEwen argue that every pastor is an apologist who then invites the church to embody its apologetic identity.
