How does an ordinary woman know when the Lord speaks to her heart and calls her, her family of five boys, and her farmer/teacher husband to the educational mission field? By sharing how He speaks in what she calls, whispers of love. By having a yielded heart and mind, listening, and then obeying like Peter. When the Lord asked Peter if he loved Him, and he affirmed that he did, Jesus said, Then, feed My sheep. The author believes that He wants us to "be" for Him, and then you will naturally "do." These stories and poems illustrate how easy it is to obey His call when one knows how deep is His love.

Tender shepherding is the ultimate expectation of the Lord from shepherds who take care of His lambs and sheep. He is looking for tender shepherds everywhere including personal homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and in the church. Will you answer the call? Believers in Christ Jesus are making disciples as a sure proof of their love for Him but tender shepherding which is the ordained means appears to be somewhat in crisis. It is in this regard that “A Tender Shepherd” is a voice in time to ignite the tender shepherding spirit that inhabits believers. Tenderness is a significant power chip of the Treasure that resides in believers of Jesus Christ without a doubt. It is the undeniable power that is relevant for the world today. As this power becomes increasingly recognizable and used daily by believers in Christ Jesus for tender shepherding, transformation of lives will begin to be more visible and apparent in homes, families, workplaces, neighborhoods, and indeed in all spheres of human life. The world cannot deny their thirst for transformed lives in every sphere of life and hence the demand for tender shepherds. This is the kind of shepherding that pleases the Lord and proven to be effective for His purposes in reconciling the world to Himself. In this book you will find: • Heaven’s perspective on shepherding • The shepherding blue- print of Jesus Christ and illustrations; those that marked His discipleship and became His brand; discipleship by tenderness and love • The central purpose of shepherding for the fulfillment of the Great Commission • examples for the church from the Apostles who had first-hand and best taste of Jesus’ discipleship. • A hypothetical classification of churches based on shepherd types and suggestions for introspection and • Shepherding in other spheres of life The author considers tender shepherding one of the surest means of responding to Jesus’ command of making disciples of all nations as the day of reckoning draws near. When He will say to each tender shepherd: COME YOU BLESSED OF MY FATHER, INHERIT THE KINGDOM PREPARED FOR YOU FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.

If someone compared you to a sheep, how would you feel? We "count sheep," act "sheepish," and "flock" to anything new and intriguing. During more than a dozen years of experience in tending sheep on their Minnesota "hobby farm," Ken and Ardie Johnson discovered astounding similarities between people and sheep. "Pursuing Life With a Shepherd's Heart" captures touching and hilarious stories about Ken's adventures as an amateur shepherd caring for wayward, helpless, foolish sheep - clearly illustrating, like it or not, we really are like sheep, as the Bible asserts. These experiences with the habits and foibles of the sometimes wayward members of his flock helped Ken and his family to better understand their own sheep-like traits, as well as learn how to become more effective shepherds - at home, in the workplace, in the community, and in all kinds of relationships. In this book Ken shares the rich insights he gained from his wooly friends, all of which abound in practical application for everyday living. In addition, the real-life truths they observed from the sheep taught Ken and his family much about their relationship with God -- principles that can benefit all of us.

The Last Shepherd tells how at the beginning of the Common Era, Palestine was in chaos socially, politically, and spiritually. Political turmoil during the life of Jesus affected his ministry and caused him deep concern that he was not reaching the people with God's message of love. Leaders in Palestine had been corrupted with Greek and Roman influence, causing a growing divide between the rich and the poor. Pharisees were fighting the trend by demanding a harsh adherence to Mosaic law laid down in Leviticus, which caused a greater burden on the poor, who could not follow the law of sacrifices for atonement. The people were desperately hoping for the messiah. After Herod Antipas had John the Baptist beheaded, Jesus knew of the real dangers he faced by those in power and by the Pharisees who saw thousands following him as a loss of their influence. After the second year of his ministry, Jesus knew that there were plots to have him killed. As a result, he shifted his ministry into areas away from Galilee and Judea, and he pleaded with people not to call him the messiah, the savior the people had been hoping for. The Last Shepherd is a story of how politics during the life and ministry of Jesus influenced his mission. But the gospels give only two of the events recorded in Luke 13:1-5. This novel records them all.

Shepherds After My Own Heart written by Timothy S. Laniak and has been published by InterVarsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-02-05 with Religion categories.

Scripture says, "I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding" (Jeremiah 3:15). Most of Israel's pastoral imagery is grounded in two traditions: Moses as God's under-shepherd and David as shepherd-king. These traditions, explains author Timothy S. Laniak, provided prototypes for leaders that followed, and formed the background for the ministry of Jesus, the good shepherd. The pastoral role was central to the ongoing life of local churches in the Christian movement, and today's pastors are still called to be shepherds after God's own heart, to lead his people, living on the margins of settled society, to their eternal home. In this excellent study, Laniak draws on a wide range of Old and New Testament texts to develop the biblical theology of "shepherd" imagery, and concludes with some principles and implications for contemporary pastoral ministry. A wonderful resource for pastors, teachers and seminary students, as well as readers interested in the study of biblical imagery.
