Dieses Buch ist im wesentlichen eine deutsche Übersetzung der 4. Auf lage des holländischen Buches "Kwalitatieve chemische analyse" der selben Autoren, die im Verlag D. B. Centen, Amsterdam 1956, erschienen ist. Die erste Auflage (1945) konnte als ausführliche holländische Bearbei tung einer schon älteren Arbeit von VAN NIEUWENBURG und Frl. Dr. DULFER betrachtet werden. Diese erschien fast gleichzeitig in englischer Sprache (ebenfalls bei D. B. Centen, Amsterdam) 1933 und in spanischer Sprache (bei Marin, Barcelona) 1934. Vergleicht man die verschiedenen Auflagen, so erhält man einen star ken Eindruck der stürmischen Entwicklung, welche die qualitative chemische Analyse in den letzten 25 Jahren erfahren hat. Das vorliegende Buch verdankt seine Existenzberechtigung unserer Ansicht nach der Tatsache, daß man in vielen akademischen Kreisen von dieser Entwick lung offenbar noch nicht genügend durchdrungen ist. Falls man die vielen guten Identitätsreaktionen bereits kennt, welche uns die Technik der Tüpfelreaktionen und der Kristallfällungen geliefert hat, schließt man daraus noch zu wenig auf die Möglichkeit einer ganz anderen wesentlich besseren Technik und Methodik. Diese Reaktionen sind nämlich so emp findlich, daß man von selbst zu einem Mikro- oder eventuell Semi mikro"til gelangt, der nicht nur schnellere und bessere Resultate als der alte Stil erzielt, sondern der vor allem - und darauf legen wir besonderen Nachdruck - weitaus eleganter ist, was gerade für den propädeutischen chemischen Unterricht von größter Bedeutung ist.
