Scientific Study from the year 2011 in the subject Cultural Studies - Basics and Definitions, , course: Intercultural Research, language: English, abstract: The quantum metaphorical conceptualization of the world is derived from Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle and Bohr’s complementarity principle formulated in the first half of the past century. Both refer to the subatomic world and the understanding of matter and energy. The first postulates that one cannot determine the position and the momentum of a subatomic particle simultaneously. While one can be determined the other eludes and vice versa. The second is referred to as the wave-particle duality. It implies that matter and energy have two complementary aspects, i. e. particles or waves. Whether we consider God and man made in his likeness or the double helix of the DNA with its two strands or the millennia old Chinese yin-yang principle everywhere we find complementary realities that can more fully explain life: physical, biological, metaphysical, philosophical etc.

Document from the year 2011 in the subject Cultural Studies - Miscellaneous, , course: Interkulturelles Management, language: English, abstract: The business-determined reduction and the culturally conditioned reduction of vital phenomena to a set of some presumably relevant categories frozen into fixed abstractions has no life and can therefore give no life either. Yet an alternative approach is challenging, because it requires a human mind with a much wider horizon, willing to go beyond a fashionable quick business fix made possible by quantitative social research approaches. State-of-the-art intercultural research shares these methods. It is dead cat interculturalism. And if the same operations are replicated on diverse cats the same principle still applies, irrespective of the assumed validation of the research by its replication. It cannot guide living cultural phenomena to their solution. Frozen, fragmentary and deficitary residues of real life in its interconnected internal-external relatedness are not representative of life, cultural or other.

The study uses science and engineering metaphors for innovative culture research.

The book can be seen as a manual with practical tools and guidelines for managing cross-cultural cooperation and to optimize management styles in cross-cultural contexts. Every culture has its own logic. Terms and concepts, such as leadership, ownership, consensus, decision-making, and many others that we use daily in international management and communication practice are far from universal. Successful cross-cultural cooperation requires a common framework. It is not enough to be aware of cultural differences: we need practical tools and guidelines for managing cross-cultural cooperation. This book introduces and applies the Cultural Quantum® Five Step Method developed by Dr. Jeanne Boden. Business people, academics and other professionals find the Cultural Quantum® Five Step Method "thought-provoking" and "eye-opening". The ideas contained here will resonate with anyone who deals with colleagues or customers with a different cultural background from their own.

Cultural Intelligence In The World Of Work written by Yuan Liao and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-28 with Psychology categories.

This book provides a comprehensive review of both the theoretical development and empirical study of the concept of cultural intelligence. A review of previous work on cross-cultural competence provides an historical backdrop against which the two main theories of cultural intelligence are presented. These two approaches, as well as the assessments derived from them, are compared and evaluated. Issues associated with the measurement of cultural intelligence are examined in detail. An important feature of the review of the empirical work on cultural intelligence is that results are discussed in terms of the relationship of the four sub dimensions of the Cultural Intelligence Scale (CQS) and also that results using the Short Form Cultural Intelligence Scale (SFCQ) and other measures of the concept are included. The review of empirical work includes studies that cast cultural intelligence as an antecedent, as a dependent variable, and as a moderator and a mediator. Cultural intelligence at the group and organizational levels are also discussed. Finally, this review sets the stage for a discussion of appropriate future directions in the study of cultural intelligence. Scholars in organizational psychology interested in the concept of cultural intelligence will find this an essential guide.

Handbook Of Cultural Intelligence written by Soon Ang and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-01-28 with Business & Economics categories.

Cultural intelligence is defined as an individual's ability to function effectively in situations characterized by cultural diversity. With contributions from eminent scholars worldwide, the "Handbook of Cultural Intelligence" is a 'state-of-the-science' summary of the body of knowledge about cultural intelligence and its relevance for managing diversity both within and across cultures. Because cultural intelligence capabilities can be enhanced through education and experience, this handbook emphasizes individual capabilities - specific characteristics that allow people to function effectively in culturally diverse settings - rather than the approach used by more traditional books of describing and comparing cultures based on national cultural norms, beliefs, habits, and practices. The Handbook covers conceptional and definitional issues, assessment approaches, and application of cultural intelligence in the domains of international and cross-cultural management as well as management of domestic activity. It is an invaluable resource that will stimulate and guide future research on this important topic and its application across a broad range of disciplines, including management, organizational behavior, industrial and organizational psychology, intercultural communication, and more.
