Space Time Basics explores the revolutionary concepts of relativity, examining how our understanding of space, time, and gravity has evolved. It highlights how space and time are not independent but are woven together into spacetime, a flexible fabric influenced by mass and energy, impacting everything from light to galaxies. This book explains complex ideas like time dilation and length contraction, showing how they challenge classical physics and underpin modern cosmology. The book begins with special relativity, explaining how the speed of light is constant for all observers, leading to mind-bending effects on time and space. It then moves into general relativity, where gravity isn't a force but a curvature of spacetime. Real-world evidence, such as the bending of starlight and the detection of gravitational waves, supports these theories. Understanding these concepts is crucial, as relativity influences technologies like GPS and provides insight into astrophysical phenomena like black holes. Space Time Basics aims to make these complex physics concepts accessible by grounding them in tangible examples and observational data. It seeks to demystify relativity for students and enthusiasts alike, presenting verified information and logical reasoning. The book progresses systematically, building from foundational principles to the implications of relativity for understanding the universe and its expansion.

In one word, this is a responsible book; the rest is commentary. Around 1992 a few of us were led by Charles Bennett into a Garden of Eden of quantum information, communication, and computation. No sooner had we started exploring our surroundings and naming the birds and the beasts, than Peter Shor put an end to that apparent innocence by showing that factoring could be turned—by means of quantum hardware—into a po- nomial task. Fast factoring meant business; everybody seemed to be awfully interested in factoring. Not that anyone had any use for factoring per se, but it seemed that all the world’s secrets were protected by factor-keyed padlocks. Think of all the power and the glory (and something else) that you might get by acting as a consultant to big businesses and government agencies, helping them pick everyone else’s locks and at the same time build unpickable ones (well, nearly unpickable) for themselves. And if one can get an exponential advantage in factoring, wouldn’t an exponential advantage be lying around the corner for practically any other computational task? Quantum infor- tion “and all that” has indeed blossomed in a few years into a wonderful new chapter of physics, comparable in ?avor and scope to thermodynamics. It has alsoturnedintoaveritable“industry”—producingpapers,conferences,exp- iments, e?ects, devices—even proposals for quantum computer architectures.

A truly Galilean-class volume, this book introduces a new method in theory formation, completing the tools of epistemology. It covers a broad spectrum of theoretical and mathematical physics by researchers from over 20 nations from four continents. Like Vigier himself, the Vigier symposia are noted for addressing avant-garde, cutting-edge topics in contemporary physics. Among the six proceedings honoring J.-P. Vigier, this is perhaps the most exciting one as several important breakthroughs are introduced for the first time. The most interesting breakthrough in view of the recent NIST experimental violations of QED is a continuation of the pioneering work by Vigier on tight bound states in hydrogen. The new experimental protocol described not only promises empirical proof of large-scale extra dimensions in conjunction with avenues for testing string theory, but also implies the birth of the field of unified field mechanics, ushering in a new age of discovery. Work on quantum computing redefines the qubit in a manner that the uncertainty principle may be routinely violated. Other breakthroughs occur in the utility of quaternion algebra in extending our understanding of the nature of the fermionic singularity or point particle. There are several other discoveries of equal magnitude, making this volume a must-have acquisition for the library of any serious forward-looking researchers.

Frank Arntzenius presents a series of radical ideas about the structure of space and time, and establishes a new metaphysical position which holds that the fundamental structure of the physical world is purely geometrical structure. He argues that we should broaden our conceptual horizons and accept that spaces other than spacetime may exist.

We are self-aware! The Universe is aware of itself through us. What are we? Each year, living matter processes billions of tons of chemicals in the act of living, and these chemicals become a part of life for some period, experiencing the very essence of being alive. We are processors, bags of living chemicals, bags of mainly water that experience awareness, and enjoy the benefits of life! Is our sole purpose to make the Universe experience life? When a molecule of water becomes part of our being, does it also enjoy being alive? It seems as if we are meant to explore the Universe to open vistas of ex-perience that will allow a variety of inanimate matter to experience life. The need to know and learn, sets us apart from ordinary matter, but what lurks behind this gift? Is knowledge and the act of knowing, just another form of a force field, like the electro-magnetic field and the gravitational field? This Theory explains emergent intelligence through logical causality and also provides a framework for future Artificial Intelligence.
