Aujourd'hui en France, un chirurgien-dentiste sur deux est touché par le syndrome d'épuisement professionnel, plus connu sous le nom de « burn out ». En effet, la chirurgie-dentaire est une profession avec un large éventail de facteurs de stress et de pénibilité qui ont souvent de lourdes conséquences tant sur la qualité des soins que sur la santé physique et mentale du praticien. Malgré le retentissement de la sonnette d'alarme, les affections psychiques peinent toujours à trouver leur place dans les tableaux de maladies professionnelles de la Sécurité Sociale. L'enjeu majeur de cette recherche est de mettre en lumière les dernières recommandations et pistes d'action actuelles mises en place pour la reconnaissance du caractère professionnel de ces pathologies. La prise en charge de ces troubles psychiques reste tout de même déficiente et aléatoire selon les différents régimes à savoir, la Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie et la Caisse Autonome de Retraite des Chirurgiens-Dentistes. En outre, même s'il est vrai que la création d'un tableau de maladie professionnelle pour les affections psychiques s'avère utile et capitale pour une prise en charge adéquate, la problématique de la prévention reste tout de même au cœur du débat. C'est dans ce domaine que nos efforts devraient se concentrer : « adapter le travail à l'homme et non pas l'homme au travail » constitue en quelque sorte l'objectif des actions de prévention à mener afin de protéger la santé du chirurgien-dentiste.

The impetus for this work emerged from Savall’s belief that there is a doubleloop interaction between social and economic factors in organizations, between behaviors and structures, and between the quality of life in organizations and their economic performance. When managers underestimate this dynamic interaction, the resulting tension ultimately manifests in lowered performance and increased costs, what he refers to as the “hidden costs” of organizational life. Only by delving into the depths of these organizational dynamics can we hope to fully understand – and create the basis for improving – organizational performance. The Qualimetrics Approach presents a different and challenging way of thinking about analyzing organizations, one that draws together quantitative information, financial analysis and qualitative insights into organizational dynamics. As Savall and Zardet argue, to gain a true understanding of what is happening in organizations, intervener-researchers must focus on all three perspectives, as ignoring any one of them will lead to incomplete understandings. Their approach underscores the importance of using qualitative data to validate quantitative depictions (“the numbers”) of organizational performance in understanding the construction of financial statements. The strength of Savall and Zardet’s approach is that it pushes us to go deeper, to fully understand the narratives underlying the numbers and the social construction of our financial assessments.
