Radiative Transfer In Coupled Environmental Systems written by Knut Stamnes and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-18 with Science categories.

This book is dedicated to the formulation and solution of forward and inverse problems related to coupled media, and provides examples of how to solve concrete problems in environmental remote sensing of coupled atmosphere-surface systems. The authors discuss radiative transfer in coupled media such as the atmosphere-ocean system with Lambertian as well non-Lambertian reflecting surfaces at the lower boundary. The spectral range from the ultraviolet to the microwave region of the electromagnetic spectrum is considered, as are multi-spectral as well as hyperspectral remote sensing, while solutions of the forward problem for unpolarized and polarized radiation are discussed in detail.

The advancement of observational techniques has led to the discovery of a large number of stars exhibiting complex spectral structures. This necessitates the search for new methods to study the radiative transfer in such stars. This book presents mathematical methodologies developed for solving radiation transfer problems in moving media and stellar atmospheres.

Light Scattering Reviews Volume 11 written by Alexander Kokhanovsky and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-12 with Science categories.

This is the eleventh volume in the series Light Scattering Reviews, devoted to current knowledge of light scattering problems and both experimental and theoretical research techniques related to their solution. The focus of this volume is to describe modern advances in radiative transfer and light scattering optics. This book brings together the most recent studies on light radiative transfer in the terrestrial atmosphere, while also reviewing environmental polarimetry. The book is divided into nine chapters: • the first four chapters review recent advances in modern radiative transfer theory and provide detailed descriptions of radiative transfer codes (e.g., DISORT and CRTM). Approximate solutions of integro-differential radiative transfer equations for turbid media with different shapes (spheres, cylinders, planeparallel layers) are detailed; • chapters 5 to 8 focus on studies of light scattering by single particles and radially inhomogeneous media; • the final chapter discusses the environmental polarimetry of man-made objects.

This is the 3rd volume of a "Light Scattering Reviews" series devoted to current knowledge of light scattering problems and both experimental and theoretical research techniques related to their solution. This volume covers applications in remote sensing, inverse problems and geophysics, with a particular focus on terrestrial clouds. The influence of clouds on climate is poorly understood. The theoretical aspects of this problem constitute the main emphasis of this work.

Radiative Heat Transfer In Two Phase Media written by K. S. Adzerikho and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992-11-10 with Science categories.

Radiative Heat Transfer in Two-Phase Media is devoted to discussing and further developing the radiative heat transfer theory. It provides thorough coverage of studies of physical processes in emitting two-phase media as applied to combustion chambers of heat power plants. Numerical methods are developed, and a number of reliable approximate solutions to radiative heat transfer problems are proposed. Widely accepted thermophysical concepts, such as effective temperature, effective emissivity of heat carriers, and thermal efficiency of screens, are covered in detail. The book also provides programs for computing spectroscopic characteristics of emitting two-phase media, which are useful for solving complex radiative heat transfer problems. Radiative Heat Transfer in Two-Phase Media is an important book for the library of any heat transfer specialist.

The theory of the scattering of light by small particles is very important in a wide range of applications in atmospheric physics and atmospheric optics, ocean optics, remote sensing, astronomy and astrophysics and biological optics. This book summarises current knowledge of the optical properties of single small particles and natural light scattering media such as snow, clouds, foam aerosols etc. The book considers both single and multiple light scattering regimes, together with light scattering and radiative transfer in close-packed media. The third edition incorporates new findings in the area of light scattering media optics in an updated version of the text.

Initial-value systems are obtained for the scattering and transmission functions and emergent intensities for inhomogeneous, anisotropically scattering spherical media. Integro-differential equations are derived from transfer equations for each of the following problems: (1) an externally illuminated spherical shell atmosphere with a reflecting inner surface, (2) a spherical shell atmosphere surrounding a perfect black core, (3) a spherical shell atmosphere surrounding a vacuum core with a central point source, and (4) a spherical shell atmosphere with internal sources of radiation. The equations obtained in this study are new and exact. Some are derived with the aid of the probabilistic method. These equations can be integrated easily in numerical computation. (Author).
