Light scattering is a very powerful method to characterize the structure of polymers and nanoparticles in solution. Recent technical developments have strongly enhanced the possible applications of this technique, overcoming previous limitations like sample turbidity or insufficient experimental time scales. However, despite their importance, these new developments have not yet been presented in a comprehensive form. In addition, and maybe even more important to the broad audience, there lacks a simple-to-read textbook for students and non-experts interested in the basic principles and fundamental techniques of light scattering. As part of the Springer Laboratory series, this book tries not only to provide such a simple-to-read and illustrative textbook about the seemingly very complicated topic of light scattering from polymers and nanoparticles in dilute solution, but also intends to cover some of the newest technical developments in experimental light scattering.

This new text offers experienced students a comprehensive review of available techniques for the remote sensing of aerosols. These small particles influence both atmospheric visibility and the thermodynamics of the atmosphere. They are also of great importance in any consideration of climate change problems. Aerosols may also be responsible for the loss of harvests, human health problems and ecological disasters. Thus, this detailed study of aerosol properties on a global scale could not be more timely.

Since their inception more than 2.5 years ago, photon correlation techniques for the spatial, temporal or spectral analysis of fluctuating light fields have found an ever-widening range of applications. Using detectors which re spond to single quanta of the radiation field, these methods are intrinsically digital in natnre and in many experimental situations offer a unique degree of accuracy and sensitivity, not only for the study of primary light sources themselves, but most particularly in the use of a laser-beam probe to study light scattering from pure fluids, macromolecular suspensions and laminar or turbulent flowing fluids and gases. Following the earliest developments in laser scattering by dilute macro nl01ecular suspensions, in , ... hich particle sizing was the main aim, and the use of photon correlation techniques for laser-Doppler studies of flow and tnrbuence. both of which areas were the subject of NATO ASls in Capri, Italy in 19;:3 and 19;6. significant advances have be('n made in recent years in many other areas. These were reflected in the topics covered in this NATO Advanced Research Workshop, which took place from August 2;th to 30th, 1!)!}6, at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. These in cluded ('xperimental techniques. statist.ics and data reduction, colloids and aggregation, polymers, gels, liquid crystals and mixtures, protein solutions, critical pllf'nomena and dense media.

Light Scattering In Inhomogeneous Atmospheres written by Edgard G. Yanovitskij and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.
This book is aimed at studying the scattering of monochromatic radiation in plane inhomogeneous media. We are dealing with the media whose optical properties depend on a single spatial coordinate, namely of a depth. The most widely known books on radiation transfer, for instance 1. S. Chandrasekhar, Radiative Transfer, Oxford, Clarendon Press, 1950, (RT), 2. V. V. Sobolev, Light Scattering in Planetary Atmospheres, New York, Pergamon Press, 1975, (LSPA), 3. H. C. van de Hulst, Multiple Light Scattering. Tables, Formulas and - plications. Vol. 1,2, New York, Academic Press, 1980, (MLS), treat mainly the homogeneous atmospheres. However, as known, the actual atmospheres of stars and planets, basins of water, and other artificial and nat ural media are not homogeneous. This book deals with the model of vertically inhomogeneous atmosphere, which is closer to reality than the homogeneous models. This book is close to the aforementioned monographs in its scope of prob lems and style. Therefore, I guess that a preliminary knowledge of the con tents of these books, particularly of the book by Sobolev, would facilitate the readers' task substantially. On the other hand, all concepts, problems, and equations used in this book are considered in full in Chap. 1. So, it will be possible for those readers who do not possess the above knowledge to understand this book. A general idea about the content of the book can be gained from both the Introduction and the Table of Contents.

The Mie Theory written by Wolfram Hergert and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-06-30 with Science categories.
This book presents in a concise way the Mie theory and its current applications. It begins with an overview of current theories, computational methods, experimental techniques, and applications of optics of small particles. There is also some biographic information on Gustav Mie, who published his famous paper on the colour of Gold colloids in 1908. The Mie solution for the light scattering of small spherical particles set the basis for more advanced scattering theories and today there are many methods to calculate light scattering and absorption for practically any shape and composition of particles. The optics of small particles is of interest in industrial, atmospheric, astronomic and other research. The book covers the latest developments in divers fields in scattering theory such as plasmon resonance, multiple scattering and optical force.
