This collection marks the EASA Book Series’ 50th volume and celebrates collaborative forms of knowledge production in anthropology. It is organized around eight key themes and concepts that have marked anthropological debates in Europe over the past 20 years. Featuring engaging contributions, anthropologists from different generations and backgrounds come together to collaboratively reflect on questions that keep recurring throughout the book series. As a tribute to anthropology in and of Europe, the book is an experiment in collaboration as much as a testament to anthropology’s vitality and relevance in a world which sees itself confronted by challenges of planetary dimension.

As people are living longer on average than ever before, the number of those with dementia will increase. Because many will live a considerable time at home with their diagnosis, we need to know more about the ways people can adapt to and learn to live with dementia in their everyday lives. Lars-Christer Hyd n argues in this book that to do so will involve re-imagining what dementia really is and what it can mean to the afflicted and their loved ones. One of the most important everyday opportunities for sharing experiences is the simple act of storytelling. But when someone close to you gradually loses the ability to tell stories and cherish the shared history you have together, this is seen as a threat to the relationship, to the feeling of belonging together, and to the identity of the person diagnosed. Therefore, learning about how people with dementia can participate in storytelling along with their families and friends helps to sustain those relationships and identities. In Entangled Narratives, Hyd n not only emphasizes the possibilities that are inherent in collaborative storytelling, but instructs professionals and otherwise healthy relatives to learn how to effectively listen and, ultimately, re-imagine their patients and loved ones as collaborative meaning-makers in their lives.

Neo-Seattle, 2149. A city drowning in perpetual rain, where bioluminescent algae farms cling to skyscrapers like luminous veins. Seventeen-year-old Aria Wavelength finds solace in the quiet hum of her lab, a stark contrast to the chaotic Virtuality that consumes her generation. Her only connection is Drake Particlepath, a brilliant but enigmatic lab partner. Their shared fascination with bio-coding forms a fragile bridge between their solitary worlds, a bridge soon shattered by The Shimmer. This pandemic, born in the digital ether, rewrites adolescent DNA, entangling them in a terrifying quantum waltz. Aria and Drake find themselves at the epicenter, their emotions, thoughts, and dreams mirroring each other, amplified, raw, inescapable. The thrill of their connection quickly turns to terror as they uncover the sinister truth: The Shimmer isn’t a random anomaly, but a meticulously crafted weapon designed by The Affinity Group, a shadowy organization seeking to harness the raw power of first love to create a global hive mind. Their mentor, Dr. Russell, a physicist haunted by past mistakes, recognizes the danger. He’s seen the seductive allure of scientific hubris, the catastrophic consequences of tampering with human connection. He warns them: their entanglement, their greatest strength, is also their ultimate vulnerability. With Neo-Seattle teetering on the brink of collapse, they face an impossible choice. Succumb to the seductive comfort of the collective, or fight for their individuality, their love, their very selves? Their journey takes them through the treacherous currents of the Virtuality, a desperate race against time as The Affinity Group tightens its grip. Their entangled minds become their weapon, but the constant emotional feedback threatens to shatter them from within. Shared dreams morph into nightmares, a terrifying vision of a world where love is not a connection, but a control mechanism. They must find a way to break free, to shatter The Shimmer, even if it means severing the very bond that connects them. Their fate, and the fate of Neo-Seattle, hangs in the balance, a testament to the enduring power of love and the fight for individual freedom in a world on the edge of quantum collapse.

In Conversation with Karen Barad: Doings of Agential Realism is an accessible introduction to Karen Barad’s agential realist philosophy. The authors take on a unique approach to involve the readers in in/formal conversations between Karen, postgraduate and other researchers at a research event held in 2017 at Cape Town, South Africa. It features chapters that have been contributed by seminar delegates and organisers, which put forth the continuing impact that Karen Barad has had on their empirical work, research writing and drawing practices. The text further discusses the ethical and political significance of Karen’s work, especially in the context of de/colonizing South African higher education. The chapters offer a series of worked posthumanist pedagogical examples and describe how a research seminar was organised differently and more in line with Baradian radical philosophy. At its heart, this book makes a methodological and pedagogical contribution to the surge in literature on agential realism, whilst simultaneously challenging dominant research binaries and arguing for a more egalitarian way of working together in knowledge-creation by troubling human and more-than-human hierarchies. The book’s uniqueness is further fortified through its description of in/formal conversations, which are diffracted through chapters, a doing of agential realism to reconfigure relationships between lecturer and student, expert and novice, supervisor and supervised, researcher and research participants. These radical conversations are dis/continuing. This book will be invaluable for students and individuals interested in advancing their understanding of agential realism and Karen Barad’s influence at large, as well as students and scholars interested in postqualitative methods in all disciplines.

A superb combination of focused case studies and high level conceptual thinking, this volume is an important monument in the ongoing development of Inter-American studies The articles gathered here closely examine a wide variety of cultural phenomena implicated in the 'entanglements' which have defined the history of the Americas. From religious networks to music and dance, and across a range of literary and artistic works, the mobility of people, objects, and ideas in the Americas is expertly mapped. At the same time, the book represents a serious enterprise of theory-building. Drawing on the histories of postcolonial thought, mobility studies, and work on human migration, Mobile and Entangled America(s) clearly establishes a new interdisciplinary field attentive both to the complexities of cultural form and the pervasiveness of power relations. Each article stands as a significant piece of scholarship on its own, but all are in dialogue with each other. The result is a richly satisfying and important volume of cultural scholarship.
