'42Rules of Employee Engagement (2nd Edition)' was born out of need for dcorporations, leaders and managers to engage with employees. Depending on whose research you read, as much as three quarters of the global workforce were not engaged! How long could organizations continue down this path and thrive or survive? As overwhelming as these data seem, Susan Stamm began to recognize the solutions are simple and within our reach. Engagement begins and ends with leaders and their day to day actions. It's the little things that make the big difference: how much information the leaders shares, how they approach important conversations, how much control they need, and how well they listen. An organization can be a best place to work, yet have a team no one wants to work on. The reverse is also true and it is almost always related to the leader. A challenge is that leaders often have blind spots, especially leaders that are struggling with their teams. This book include stories that leaders can relate to and that might open the door for them to consider how their actions appear to others. The best way to use this book is as a conversation starter. Take it to lunch with colleagues and discuss a single rule and the implications for your teams. These rules are actionable; when there is a challenge, there is always a specific action or direction recommended for dealing with it. In addition to the actions offered at the end of each rule, Appendix C provides links to more than two full years of free employee engagement activities and tools. If you want better engagement at your company, you should pick up '42Rules of Employee Engagement (2nd Edition)' today.

This compact, accessibly written text prepares students for their experience of community-based learning. It prepares students to work with diverse individuals, groups, and organizations that may be outside their prior experience. The stories illustrate common themes inherent in the student experience, including listening to understand, challenging stereotypes, learning the nature of their role, and seeing the world through a new lens.A special feature of this book is the embedded QR codes that provide access, as students read the text, to online resources, and original and public videos that explore particular themes or perspectives more deeply. Stop making a living and start making a life with The New Retirementality™ In 2000, when top financial philosopher and bestselling author Mitch Anthony first presented a new way of thinking about retirement, it was novel, and many critics didn't buy into it. Originally written to get the attention of baby boomers, Mitch ended up starting a revolution by showing us that everything we had read about retirement was wrong—we needed a "new retirementality." Fast-forward to today, when most of us are facing a very different retirement: fewer pensions, escalating healthcare costs, and inadequate savings. For many of us, retirement may never happen, or it will take place much later than we expected. Far from being full of doom and gloom, The New Retirementality, Fifth Edition, offers a message of hope, along with a roadmap for navigating the choppy waters of retirement planning. While most books focus on Return on Investment, Mitch shows us that Return on Life™—living the best life possible with the resources we have—is a more fulfilling and achievable approach. New to this edition: The latest research and studies, as well as a discussion of Life-Centered Planning™—a unique approach to financial and retirement planning, focused on individual goals and needs instead of the outmoded one-size-fits-all approach. Explores the role of purpose in retirement planning, including the expanding role of work in retirement, and why it can take three or four tries to get retirement right. Features the New Retirementality Profile, the ROL Index for helping you analyze and reflect on how you are using your money toward improving your life, and worksheets to help you get organized. Filled with engaging anecdotes, practical advice, and inspirational suggestions, this book will motivate you to rethink what retirement means—and put you in a better position to enjoy the new retirementality you deserve.

Ready Set Improvise written by Suzanne Burton and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-09-11 with Music categories.

Improvisation - the creation of a unique combination of musical content within a musical context - is core to musicianship. As authors Suzanne L. Burton and Alden H. Snell II demonstrate, students already build skills that drive improvisation when they listen to music or imitate rhythmic patterns. Building from this observation, Ready, Set, Improvise! addresses improvisation in a cogent, clear, practical, and sequential manner. As an essential resource for music educators, this book synthesizes what we know about exemplary music teaching and learning, provides an easy-to-follow sequence for guiding improvisation instruction, and gives techniques for assessment of students' skill and conceptual development. Burton and Snell explore lessons in singing, rhythmic chanting, moving, and playing instrument exercises that prepare students to improvise. This all-in-one guide gives music teachers the necessary tools with which to plan the next steps for students to become independent musicians.

What types of instructional experiences help K-8 students learn science with understanding? What do science educators, teachers, teacher leaders, science specialists, professional development staff, curriculum designers, and school administrators need to know to create and support such experiences? Ready, Set, Science! guides the way with an account of the groundbreaking and comprehensive synthesis of research into teaching and learning science in kindergarten through eighth grade. Based on the recently released National Research Council report Taking Science to School: Learning and Teaching Science in Grades K-8, this book summarizes a rich body of findings from the learning sciences and builds detailed cases of science educators at work to make the implications of research clear, accessible, and stimulating for a broad range of science educators. Ready, Set, Science! is filled with classroom case studies that bring to life the research findings and help readers to replicate success. Most of these stories are based on real classroom experiences that illustrate the complexities that teachers grapple with every day. They show how teachers work to select and design rigorous and engaging instructional tasks, manage classrooms, orchestrate productive discussions with culturally and linguistically diverse groups of students, and help students make their thinking visible using a variety of representational tools. This book will be an essential resource for science education practitioners and contains information that will be extremely useful to everyone including parents directly or indirectly involved in the teaching of science.

Spatialized Injustice In The Contemporary City written by S. Nombuso Dlamini and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-05-12 with Social Science categories.

This volume documents research illustrating public dissents and interventions to injustice in modern-day cities. Authors present everyday occurrences of city life and place making; still, they show how the ordinary city grows from historical dimensions of injustice, violence and fear. Yet, ordinary citizens continue to make the city their own, to contribute to the creation of city structures and to contest those practices of spatial demarcation, which limit rather than uplift their everyday social livelihood. Chapters show how marginalized populations, from racial, to gendered, to the working poor, are part of the apparatus that makes the city function. However, their contributions to city arrangement and endurance are perpetually at the margins, and city spaces continue to be designed in ways that ignore and negate the existence of those who protest inequity. Novel to the volume are chapters that document and illustrate contestations of city spaces through artistic representation. Public spaces like schools, art galleries and museums are presented as central to projects of inhabiting, remembering and reimagining (in) the just city. Still, ordinary city spaces, like the public washroom, illustrate issues of gender inequity, spatial bias and other art-based protests. City dwellers interested in learning about ‘the making’ of the city; and those interested in the city as a space of possibilities – and the good life, will benefit from this volume. Scholars of geography, space, art and social justice will marvel and simultaneously be appalled by the everyday minute, yet shocking descriptions of the complexity – and unfairly structured city spaces in which they dwell.
