The author has a unique ancestral history in America, beginning with early European settlers in both the colonies of Jamestown and Plymouth. Through the generations descended from these 1600s settlers, one can learn about the daily challenges of building the America we have today. Included in these pages are stories of service in wars from the early battles with Native Americans, through the American Revolution, the Civil War, and up until World War II. Given the author's direct ancestral settlements in Texas and Arizona, storied histories of these states are in focus. Topics include life in Plymouth Colony for the Mayflower passengers, in Jamestown, the King Philip's War, and the American Revolutionary War, to include the familial differences and battles in the Southern colonies. Also, topics are battles of the Civil War, and prison experiences for some. World War I includes the Bisbee Deportation of striking copper miners in Arizona, and World War II highlights ancestors who served and came home, who served and were wounded, and who served and died. Westward Expansion is explored through the lives of LDS church members facing persecution, and therefore moving to Utah. The author hopes to illuminate the challenges of building America by using facts about the lives of her ancestors as examples of what the ancestors of many Americans have faced. The author also hopes this book will educate on some aspects of the real history of America.
