Women have an affinity with the brand of perfume they wear. People often hold strong emotional connections to different scents, such as their mother’s perfume or the body spray they wore as a teen. Despite huge marketing budgets, the launches of established brands often fail, despite extensive marketing research and lavish resources. Why is this? This text is a first in the field to recognize that fine fragrance cannot be treated as any other product. With case studies from Jill Sander, Estee Lauder and Dior, this book debunks the classic marketing techniques which often hinder the success of new perfumes. Authored by two leading market researchers, this study analyses the ‘five great brands’ of the perfume industry and demonstrates how to value perfume lines according to ‘brand DNA’. This ground-breaking book will provide students with all the tools of a successful practitioner in the perfume industry. Understanding the Marketing Exceptionality of Prestige Perfumes will prove to be a vital text for any student, specialist or practitioner of luxury marketing looking to understand the fine fragrance market.

Bodenheimer defines the personal paradoxes that helped to shape Eliot's fictional characters and narrative style. Bodenheimer revisits pivotal episodes in Mary Ann Evans's life and career, including the "Holy War" through which she asserted her youthful religious skepticism; her decision to elope with the married writer George Henry Lewes; and her marriage with John Cross after Lewes's death. Bodenheimer also discusses the rumor campaign that led to the discovery that "George Eliot" was a woman, and she traces the trajectory of Eliot's impassioned conflict between her ambition and her womanhood.

Most people are living an unfortunate, shoddy, superficial life with no sense of direction, no sense of purpose, no hope for integrated living, no meaningful relationships; but merely dragging through life on autopilot mode and accumulating worldly experiences and artifacts. What can one do to create an exceptional life? An exceptional life is not something that happens by accident, it has to be created. In this transformative new book, Justine Chinoperekweyi shows that the journey to exceptionality is a creative-intelligent and self-powered wheel. There are certain key ingredients needed by any human being who is seeking perfection. Exceptionality Without Relapse is about those who want to excel in all areas of life by enhancing perception and intelligence. The book helps readers to think from different perspectives and bring about an integrated comprehension of life. The book suggests pathways and principles through which people can transition from insufficiency to a point where they seek opportunities. Hence, in order to live a meaningful life, one should be able to recognize his/her greatness. This would help them become exceptional.

This collection of essays looks at two important manifestations of postclassical narratology, namely transmedial narratology on the one hand, and unnatural narratology on the other. The articles deal with films, graphic novels, computer games, web series, the performing arts, journalism, reality games, music, musicals, and the representation of impossibilities. The essays demonstrate how new media and genres as well as unnatural narratives challenge classical forms of narration in ways that call for the development of analytical tools and modelling systems that move beyond classical structuralist narratology. The articles thus contribute to the further development of both transmedial and unnatural narrative theory, two of the most important manifestations of postclassical narratology.

This study offers a new perspective on unusual and unsettling experiences that are often interpreted as “mental illnesses” and on the techniques through which literary representations invite readerly responses and engagement. The book examines how four Finnish modernist writers, Helvi Hämäläinen, Jorma Korpela, Timo K. Mukka, and Maria Vaara, construct experiences of shattering and distress as bodily experiences that are embedded in the social and material world and entangled with social and cultural norms that govern subjectivity, gender, and sexuality. Drawing on narrative theory, theories of embodied cognition, phenomenology of illness, and feminist theory, the analyses show how literary works can invite readers to respond emotionally and to reflect on our views of the human mind and its interaction with the world. The book sheds light on the fictional portrayals and techniques of representation and on the ethics of narrating and reading about painful experiences. It also illuminates the ways the mind, body, consciousness, and mental distress are discussed in Finnish modernist literature and situates the texts in the international modernist tradition.
