Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and children of all ages. What we have here is a brief compendium of unconventional viewpoints regarding what is loosely termed “the spiritual path,” but what is, in fact, a return to our fundamental sanity. All this and more for only 99 cents! From the foreword: Un-conditioning is about waking up, emerging from a superimposed dream of separate realities into a direct perception of unity, which is life as it is. It's what's commonly called "spiritual work." All of the great traditions offer teachings and methodologies to enable this process of awakening. Unfortunately, the conditioned mind can easily turn anything into a conditioned response. When that happens, the conditioned view that was supposed to be eradicated is actually strengthened, and the mind becomes even more narrow and closed. We are all too painfully aware of the rampant rise of fundamentalism, intolerance and violence stemming from so-called religious values. The brief reflections in this book can, I hope, illuminate the pitfalls of traditional spiritual work and broaden the possibilities of the path to awakening, which is simply, our birthright.

For the practicing neuropsychologist or researcher, keeping up with the sheer number of newly published or updated tests is a challenge, as is evaluating the utility and psychometric properties of neuropsychological tests in a clinical context. The goal of the third edition of A Compendium of Neuropsychological Tests, a well-established neuropsychology reference text, is twofold. First, the Compendium is intended to serve as a guidebook that provides a comprehensive overview of the essential aspects of neuropsychological assessment practice. Second, it is intended as a comprehensive sourcebook of critical reviews of major neuropsychological assessment tools for the use by practicing clinicians and researchers. Written in a comprehensive, easy-to-read reference format, and based on exhaustive review of research literature in neuropsychology, neurology, psychology, and related disciplines, the book covers topics such as basic aspects of neuropsychological assessment as well as the theoretical background, norms, and the utility, reliability, and validity of neuropsychological tests. For this third edition, all chapters have been extensively revised and updated. The text has been considerably expanded to provide a comprehensive yet practical overview of the state of the field. Two new chapters have been added: "Psychometrics in Neuropsychological Assessment" and "Norms in Psychological Assessment." The first two chapters present basic psychometric concepts and principles. Chapters three and four consider practical aspects of the history-taking interview and the assessment process itself. Chapter five provides guidelines on report-writing and chapters six through sixteen consist of detailed, critical reviews of neuropsychological tests, and address the topics of intelligence, achievement, executive function, attention, memory, language, visual perception, somatosensory olfactory function, mood/personality, and response bias. A unique feature is the inclusion of tables that summarize salient features of tests within each domain so that readers can easily compare measures. Additional tables within each test review summarize important features of each test, highlight aspects of each normative dataset, and provide an overview of psychometric properties. Of interest to neuropsychologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, and educational and clinical psychologists working with adults as well as pediatric populations, this volume will aid practitioners in selecting appropriate testing measures for their patients, and will provide them with the knowledge needed to make empirically supported interpretations of test results.

Discover the fascinating life and work of Carl Gustav Jung, the Swiss visionary who from an early age displayed an insatiable curiosity about the darkest corners of the human psyche. His collaboration and break with Freud marked the birth of analytical psychology, a discipline that delves into universal symbols and the collective unconscious. But Jung was more than a theorist. His prophetic visions anticipated the tragedies of World War I and World War II with uncanny accuracy. As he explored the human soul, he warned of the danger of a spiritual disconnection that could bring modern man to the brink of extinction. In this book, we explore Jung's many facets: the mystic who explored the secrets of alchemy and astrology, the secret agent who collaborated with military intelligence, and the scientist who challenged the limits of the human psyche. Through contemporary examples and inspiring reflections, we discover how Jungian principles can illuminate our understanding of today's world. From the ecological crisis to social tensions to the search for personal meaning, Jung others us tools for integrating the spiritual into our daily lives and provides a framework for understanding the complexities of our times. This book celebrates Jung's enduring influence as a beacon of wisdom in exploring the deeper facets of the human soul and the search for personal and collective wholeness. In a world desperate for answers, through Jung's legacy we invite readers to embrace our humanity and reconnect with the vast cosmos we inhabit. Integrating contemporary scientific approaches with the ancestral wisdom of indigenous peoples helps to conjure a sustainable and meaningful future for humanity.

Schizophrenia written by Peter Kenneth Chadwick and has been published by Psychology Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with Psychology categories.

Schizophrenia: The Positive Perspectivecounters a century-long tradition which has searched relentlessly for the critical deficits and dysfunctions in schizophrenic people. Peter Chadwick, who has himself suffered from the illness, shows that such people can demonstrate elevated creativity, empathy and social sensitivity and are by no means as irrational and misguided as is commonly thought. The author presents the fascinating case studies of some schizophrenics with whom he has worked. Using autobiography, biography, psychometric and experimental methods, he reveals areas of enhanced functioning in those vulnerable to the schizophrenia label, and argues for a much more positive picture of the schizophrenia-prone mind.
