The 2008 global financial crisis has led to the re-emergence in public discourse of the idea that capitalism could end. For many, it was proof of the notion that capitalist civilisation has an endemic tendency towards crisis that will ultimately bring about its demise. Must we assume, however, that such an eventuality would inevitably result in the liberation of humanity, as many orthodox Marxists claim? Through a collection of specially revised essays, first published in France between 2007 and 2010, Anselm Jappe draws on the radical new perspective of “the critique of value” as a critical tool with which to understand today’s world and to re-examine the question of human emancipation. The Writing on the Wall offers a powerful new analysis of the decomposition of capitalism and its critics.

Annotation. In this sequel to his Morality, Politics, and Law, Michael Perry addresses the proper relation of moral convictions to the politics of a morally pluralistic society. While his analysis focuses on religious morality, Perry's argument applies to morality generally. Contending that nojustification of a contested political choice can be neutral among competing conceptions of human good, the author develops an ideal of "ecumenical politics" in which moral convictions about human good can be brought to bear in a productive way in political argument.

Surprisingly Supernatural: A Practical Guide to Releasing the Gifts of the Spirit teaches believers to receive the gifts of the Spirit, and then how to release the spiritual gifts of prophecy, healings and miracles, discernment, and binding or driving out demons. Then the believers are encouraged to bring in the harvest. When believers learn how to release the gifts of the Spirit that is what the Bride of Christ is to do at the end of the age, and then she will enter into the wedding banquet (see Matt. 24:14; 25:9-10). You Will Learn That you are supposed to ask for the Holy Spirit, and ask for the gifts of the Spirit, and being continually filled by the Spirit was what the first disciples experienced, and they were the first ones called "Christians." That if you will learn the conditions required for you to hear God's voice, then you will be able to prophecy. That if you will learn the keys to healing, then you will begin to see the sick healed when you lay your hands on them. That when you ask for the gift of discernment, then you will begin to discern demons and the defilement that is around you. Then you can cast out those demons. That leylines are spiritual highways that demons travel on over the earth, and you will learn how to clean them off. That when you release the gifts of the Spirit, you will easily be able to show nonbelievers that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is the Savior of the World. That the Bride of Christ is to be continually filled by the Spirit until she is clothed in the armor of light and clothed in Jesus Christ, then she will bring glory to the Lord (see Rom. 13:12, 14)

Realm Of Lesser Evil written by Jean-Claude Michea and has been published by Polity this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-07-27 with History categories.

Winston Churchill said of democracy that it was ‘the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.’ The same could be said of liberalism. While liberalism displays an unfailing optimism with regard to the capacity of human beings to make themselves ‘masters and possessors of nature’, it displays a profound pessimism when it comes to appreciating their moral capacity to build a decent world for themselves. As Michea shows, the roots of this pessimism lie in the idea – an eminently modern one – that the desire to establish the reign of the Good lies at the origin of all the ills besetting the human race. Liberalism’s critique of the ‘tyranny of the Good’ naturally had its costs. It created a view of modern politics as a purely negative art – that of defining the least bad society possible. It is in this sense that liberalism has to be understood, and understands itself, as the ‘politics of lesser evil’. And yet while liberalism set out to be a realism without illusions, today liberalism presents itself as something else. With its celebration of the market among other things, contemporary liberalism has taken over some of the features of its oldest enemy. By unravelling the logic that lies at the heart of the liberal project, Michea is able to shed fresh light on one of the key ideas that have shaped the civilization of the West.

The Demons Of Liberal Democracy written by Adrian Pabst and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-07-12 with Philosophy categories.

Liberals blame the global retreat of liberal democracy on globalisation and authoritarian leaders. Only liberalism, so they assume, can defend democratic rule against multinationals or populists at home and abroad. In this provocative book, Adrian Pabst contends that liberal democracy is illiberal and undemocratic – intolerant about the values of ordinary people while concentrating power and wealth in the hands of unaccountable elites. Under the influence of contemporary liberalism, democracy is sliding into oligarchy, demagogy and anarchy. Liberals, far from defending open markets and free speech, promote monopolies such as the new tech giants that undermine competition and democratic debate. Liberal individualism has eroded the social bonds and civic duties on which democracy depends for trust and cooperation. To banish liberal democracy’s demons, Pabst proposes radical ideas for economic democracy, a politics of persuasion and a better balance of personal freedom with social solidarity. This book’s defence of democratic politics against both liberals and populists will speak to all readers trying to understand our age of upheaval.

Churches throughout the world’s developed nations are losing members in droves. As a result, parishes are downsizing or consolidating to remain intact-- in many cases to just survive. There must be a reason, and this author opines that antiquated Church doctrines are no longer relevant to 21st century minds. If religions are to remain viable entities in our rapidly accelerating world, they must be willing to re-examine their outdated doctrinal systems to better resonate with an educated populace. Primitive man created his gods and goddesses—and fi nally “God”-- in his own image, believing that these entities manipulated the forces of nature that were beyond his own ability to control. In doing so, he imbued his divine creations with his own best—and worst—attributes because they were what he witnessed around, and about, himself. His gods, like their mythological counterparts, were often powerful, tyrannical and self-aggrandizing beings, demanding praise, worship and blood sacrifi ce; gods who would wrathfully smite those who would not bow down in worship to them. But that was then, and this is now. Instead of rigid religious rules and antiquated beliefs, our psyches crave an inner directed experience of the Divine from which we can derive a sense of value, purpose and meaning for the lives we live. This book hopes to sound a wake-up call to the world’s major religions before they fi nd themselves placed on dusty library shelves, among other “quaint and curious volumes of forgotten lore.” i Unless this reconstruction can happen, religion, as it has existed for millennia, cannot help but wither and die.
