This is a memoir of my early childhood growing up in a remote and poor Nigerian village. My mother died when I was only 13 months old, leaving me exposed to a life without her nurturing and protective care. Moved from one foster home to another, I found love in some, indifference in others. My journey to adolescence was marked by loneliness and hardship. I experienced anger, shame, loneliness, misery, rebellion, sorrow and grief. This anguish was undeniably connected to the absence of my mother. I hated school, avoided people, and suffered in silence. It nearly tore me apart. Ironically, the very adversity which had been cause for paralyzing emptiness, became motivation for my rebound. I imagined myself through my mother’s eyes. What kind of son would she have loved for me to become? This introspective quest led to the person I am now. When I became a priest, I started a ministry to support women like her and orphans like me. Today, ten years after incorporation in the U.S. as a 501c3 non-profit, the Divine Mercy International Widows and Orphans Organization (DMIWOO) is opening a 150-bed capacity medical center in my remote village of Obike. Indeed, life is about the things that happen to us as much as it is about the use we make of them.

Psychoanalytic Perspectives On Passion written by Brent Willock and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-14 with Psychology categories.

Passion! The word brims with and exudes power, movement, intensity, vitality, desire, and fulfillment. Its multifaceted meanings include eroticism, rage, sex, suffering, drive, commitment, dedication, and love. On the one hand, it embodies a quality to be embraced and lived fully, to make life meaningful and worthwhile. On the other, it is sometimes to be treated with suspicion, reined in, subjected to the dictates of reason. While it brightens existence and its departure makes life dull, many passions may prove unbearable. The manifold connotations of passion make it highly relevant to psychoanalysis, yet, so far, no book has explored the many facets of this pervasive theme. This book provides a comprehensive guide that will sensitize readers to the omnipresent importance of passionate emotion in the clinical setting, and throughout all areas and times of life. It bursts with thought-provoking ideas. Challenging cases are illuminated by penetrating reflections and novel applications and combinations of theoretical perspectives. Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Passion explores the many ways in which very strong emotions – passions – can be understood and worked with in clinical contexts. The contributions cover such key topics as psychosis and violence, emotions in childhood, sexuality, secure and insecure attachments, the role of passion in seeking meaning, passion and transition space, and transference and countertransference. This book will be of great help to all psychoanalysts and psychoanalytic psychotherapists struggling to assist patients (and perhaps themselves) in locating their passions, channeling and expressing them in meaningful ways, and overcoming obstacles to their fulfillment.

Translated, with introduction, by George WoodcockFirst published in 1885 in Paris, this collection of articles constitutes Kropotkin's first book. Originally titled Paroles d'un Revolt it includes his earliest works from period 1879 to 1882. In the succeeding years it was translated into Italian, Spanish, Bulgarian, Russian, and Chinese. Long-awaited in English, Words of a Rebel is the first complete translation.A different work from the more familiar books of the older Kropotkin, it is a product of an anarchist agitator and it derives its interest as much from what it reveals about an important transitional phase in the development of anarchism as it does for what it shows us of Kropotkin himself.Seeing revolution as a popular insurrection, in the broadest terms, Kropotkin believed that public wealth should belong to its producers and consumers and not to the State or the rich. This volume of Kropotkin's articles was translated from the French by George Woodcock. A celebrated author, Woodcock is also an authority on the life and works of Peter Kropotkin and as a result, Words of a Rebel is not just a translation, but a scholarly work as well.Table of Contents:Introduction by George WoodcockIntroduction to the First French Edition by Elise ReclusI. Reawakening is the final book of The Tin Box Trilogy. While in a coma for three months, Julie Ventura lived through her previous life as Lottie Clark in the second book of the trilogy, The Hope Chest. Now, Julie has reawakened into her current life in 1969. What she finds is that life has not stood still for her friends and family while she was gone. In Reawakening, she must put the pieces together and understand how these two lives affect each other. Together with her friends, Petra and Heather, and armed with memories from both lives, Julie realizes that everything is connected. Although she hopes not to repeat the mistakes of the past, what she learns is that no one has complete control over their future. Here is what one reviewer had to say: I just finished... all I can say is ... Amazing... I loved it from start to finish... (and was sorry when it ended)... I loved how she was able to cross over from different lives, and how her friends were able to understand and appreciate that they were part of her past and present. I couldn't wait for her to look into someone else's eyes, or touch them to find out who they were in her past!

The need for Afrikan mind regeneration and spiritual reawakening A people who have lost these two principal inner qualities of mind can hardly find their through selves in life. This book is an attempt to begin the processes of African self-rediscovery. The ending of slavery and colonialism removed only our physical agony, but the trauma of long and extended torture left deep rooted anguish within the psyche of African race. The effects of this imprint legacy will continue until we start addressing these negative effects. In an effort to do this, the book has provided several suggestions. Some of the program are being provided at the Institute of Mind Talk Afrika.
