Recent Progress in Mitral Valve Disease presents a comprehensive examination of the proceedings that resulted from the International Symposium that transpired in Paris. It discusses the anatomy and physiology of the mitral valve. It addresses the cyclical motion of the mitral valve leaflets. Some of the topics covered in the book are the cyclical motion of the mitral annulus; analysis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; diagnoses of acute myocardial ischemia; characteristics of an abnormally functioning, structurally abnormal mitral valve; atrial function in normal cardiac cycle; and atrial function in acute mitral regurgitation. The factors that modify regurgitant volume are fully covered. An in-depth account of the methods for animal preparation and dynamics of acute experimental mitral regurgitation are provided. The uses and limitations of echocardiography in the examination of the mitral valve are completely presented. A chapter is devoted to the timing of surgical intervention in chronic mitral regurgitation. Another section focuses on the status of prosthetic valves in the mitral position. The book can provide useful information to doctors, cardiologists, students, and researchers.

Challenges for the treatment of valvular heart disease include the growing need for effective yet less invasive interventions and therapies to treat these progressive conditions. With the development of potential new treatments, it is crucial for cardiac physicians to be well informed on the pathophysiology, assessment, treatment options and their outcomes of valvular diseases. Written by a highly experienced and internationally recognized group of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and researchers, Valvular Heart Disease offers insights into the widely varying hemodynamic effects and clinical course of heart valve conditions, as well as the contemporary management of these conditions. Offering a broad perspective on these diseases, Valvular Heart Disease expands on the recent guidelines developed by the major heart societies in the United State and Europe.

Advances In Treatments For Aortic Valve And Root Diseases written by Khalil Fattouch and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-04-03 with Medical categories.

This book describes the different aspects of aortic valve and root diseases including comprehensive discussion of the state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging options, disease risk stratification, selection of candidates for valve repair or percutaneous intervention, and most recent therapeutic options. The growing prevalence of valvular heart disease represents a major challenge in terms of short- and long-term management and surveillance. Aortic valve diseases, including aortic stenosis and regurgitation, are among the most frequent of these, while the number of cases of aortic root disease is also on the rise. Aortic valve disease treatment options include valve surgery, valve repair, minimally invasive valve surgery, and percutaneous approaches and all are covered in this volume. Advances in Treatments for Aortic Valve and Root Diseases is a highly illustrated, case oriented reference aimed at cardiology fellows in training, while also helpful to surgeons, cardiologists, imagers, interventionalists, as well as other clinicians and students involved in the diagnosis and treatment of aortic valve and root diseases.

Rheumatic Valvular Disease In Children written by Joseph B. Borman and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Medical categories.

In the Middle Eastern states, in the developing countries of Southeast Asia and Africa with their vast populations, in the poverty-stricken Central and South American lands, and in other underprivileged parts of the world, rheumatic heart disease is a major problem with a high morbidity and mortality. In these areas the disease frequently attacks children, in whom the course is much more malignant than in adults. This re sults in severe pathologic changes in the cardiac valves from an early age. Stenosis of the mitral valve is one of the more common lesions, and closed mitral commissurotomy is often carried out in children. Furthermore, mitral insufficiency, aortic insufficiency, and tricuspid valve pathology may cause such life-threatening hemodynamic effects as to require valve replacement, usually electively, or even occaSionally, as an emergency. This differs from experience in the affluent sections of the population in the developed countries where severe rheumatic valvular pathology in children is uncommon, and sur gery for the advanced form of the disease is limited to adults. Recent progress in diagnostic methods, great advances in surgical skill, and the de velopment of improved valvular prostheses encourage the application of valvular sur gery - so successfully carried out in adults - to children. Such surgery is being under taken with increasing frequency, and the long-term results are encouraging. It was therefore considered important to collect the considerable but scattered information on the subject and to present it in monograph fOml.
