Boundary-layer receptivity and stability of Mach 6 flow over smooth and rough 7 half-angle sharp-tipped cones are numerically investigated. The receptivity of the boundary layer to slow acoustic disturbances, fast acoustic disturbances, and vortical disturbances are considered. The effects of two-dimensional isolated and distributed roughness on the receptivity and stability are also simulated. The results show that the instability waves are generated in the leading edge region and that the boundary layer is much more receptive to slow acoustic waves than to the fast waves. Vortical disturbances also generate unstable second modes, however the receptivity coefficients are smaller than that of the slow acoustic wave. An isolated two-dimensional roughness element of height h/delta =1/4 did not produce any difference in the receptivity or in the stability of the boundary layer. Distributed roughness elements produced a small decrease in the receptivity coefficient and also stabilized the boundary layer by small amounts. Transition Location Effect On Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interaction written by Piotr Doerffer and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-30 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book presents experimental and numerical findings on reducing shock-induced separation by applying transition upstream the shock wave. The purpose is to find out how close to the shock wave the transition should be located in order to obtain favorable turbulent boundary layer interaction. The book shares findings obtained using advanced flow measurement methods and concerning e.g. the transition location, boundary layer characteristics, and the detection of shock wave configurations. It includes a number of experimental case studies and CFD simulations that offer valuable insights into the flow structure. It covers RANS/URANS methods for the experimental test section design, as well as more advanced techniques, such as LES, hybrid methods and DNS for studying the transition and shock wave interaction in detail. The experimental and numerical investigations presented here were conducted by sixteen different partners in the context of the TFAST Project. The general focus is on determining if and how it is possible to improve flow performance in comparison to laminar interaction. The book mainly addresses academics and professionals whose work involves the aerodynamics of internal and external flows, as well as experimentalists working with compressible flows. It will also be of benefit for CFD developers and users, and for students of aviation and propulsion systems alike.

The Dynamical Projectors Method written by Sergey Leble and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-12 with Science categories.

The dynamical projectors method proves to reduce a multicomponent problem to the simplest one-component problem with its solution determined by specific initial or boundary conditions. Its universality and application in many different physical problems make it particularly useful in hydrodynamics, electrodynamics, plasma physics, and boundary layer problems. A great variety of underlying mechanisms are included making this book useful for those working in wave theory, hydrodynamics, electromagnetism, and applications. "The authors developed a universal and elegant tool – dynamical projector method. Using this method for very complicated hydro-thermodynamic and electrodynamics problem settings, they were able to get a lot of interesting analytical results in areas where before often just numerical methods were applicable." —L. A. Bordag, University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, Zittau, Germany "The book is intended for professionals working in various fields of linear and nonlinear mathematical physics, partial differential equations and theoretical physics. The book is written clearly, and in my opinion, its material will be useful and easy to understand for professionals and for students familiar with ordinary and partial differential equations." —Sergey Dobrokhotov, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia
