This book is about ways in which the land of Israel, the homeland of the most paradigmatic of all diasporas, was envisioned in late antiquity and the early Middle Ages in the literature of the sages. It is about the Land according to the redefined Judaism that emerged in the centuries following the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple in 70 CE. This Judaism replaced the temple cult with Torah study - a study that pertained in part to that very temple cult, that became a portable homeland, and that reconfigured the Land.

The Changing Land written by Benjamin Z. Kedar and has been published by Wayne State University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with History categories.

Originally published in Hebrew in 1991, The Changing Land presents a unique aerial view of the changes in Israel's topography from the second decade of the twentieth century to the present. Aerial photographs taken during World War I of Israel by German, British, and Australian aviators, showed the topography of a land fought over for many centuries. Having examined and identified the WWI photographs preserved in German, Australian, Israeli, and British public archives and German private collections, Benjamin Z. Kedar gathered 70 of the photographs to form the book's core. Kedar then collected color aerial photos taken between 1930 and 1990 of the same 70 sites. The result is an unusual and fascinating record of the physical changes in the region during this period of modernization and urban expansion. Changing the Land is more than a topographical view of Israel. Glimpses of the hills, valleys, towns, and villages of Israel provide the reader with a compelling history that words alone cannot describe. This book offers a complete portrait of Israel for anyone who has traveled to the Holy Land or has studied any of its inhabitants.

The Invention Of The Land Of Israel written by Shlomo Sand and has been published by Verso Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-30 with History categories.

What is a homeland? When does it become a national territory? Why have so many people been willing to die for such places throughout the twentieth century? What is the essence of the Promised Land? Following the acclaimed and controversial The Invention of the Jewish People, Shlomo Sand examines the mysterious sacred land that has become the site of the longest-running national struggle of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The Invention of the Land of Israel deconstructs the age-old legends surrounding the Holy Land and the prejudices that continue to suffocate it. The invention of the modern concept of the "Land of Israel" in the nineteenth century, he argues, not only facilitated the colonization of the Middle East and the establishment of the State of Israel, it is also what is threatening Israel's existence today.

In The Land Of Israel written by Amos Oz and has been published by HMH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993-10-31 with History categories.

A snapshot of Israel and the West Bank in the 1980s, through the voices of its inhabitants, from the National Jewish Book Award–winning author of Judas. Notebook in hand, renowned author and onetime kibbutznik Amos Oz traveled throughout his homeland to talk with people—workers, soldiers, religious zealots, aging pioneers, desperate Arabs, visionaries—asking them questions about Israel’s past, present, and future. Observant or secular, rich or poor, native-born or new immigrant, they shared their points of view, memories, hopes, and fears, and Oz recorded them. What emerges is a distinctive portrait of a changing nation and a complex society, supplemented by Oz’s own observations and reflections, that reflects an insider’s view of a country still forming its own identity. In the Land of Israel is “an exemplary instance of a writer using his craft to come to grips with what is happening politically and to illuminate certain aspects of Israeli society that have generally been concealed by polemical formulas” (The New York Times).

The Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people, given to them by GOD YHWH. Hebrew & Christian Bibles & Koran state this truth but is denied by the Arabs. Gen. 15:18,"Unto thy SEED have I given this land. Koran: Jonah 10:89 "We settled Israelites in a blessed land and provided them with good things." Koran: Sheba 34:12 "We said, 'Give thanks, House of David." After 2,000 years of exile, Israel returned to their land only to fight wars in the arena of public opinion and in the world's courts. They deny any Jewish connection to the Land of Israel. They attempt to de-legitimize and disenfranchise the Jewish people and to erase any memory of 3,500 years of Jewish existence on the Land by changing names of cities, burial tombs of Israel's Patriarchs to destroying historical and archeological sites. They are literally trying to erase Israel's history. This book is about the eternal bond between GOD, HIS people Israel and the Land, through their 3,500 years of history.
