Red Land-Blue Land is a photographic study of the military training ground of Senne in Germany, a site which the documentary photographer Claudio Hils explored with his camera over the course of several years. While at first glance these photographs seem to be conveying a simple sense of unspoiled nature, upon closer inspection the signs and traces of military use slowly reveal themselves. The eye begins to discover more and more details -- cartridge cases, overgrown graves, outlines of ruined houses -- and the deeper one moves into Hils' imagery, the more surreal it becomes. Human props, placed amidst cardboard-and-wood backdrops designed to represent streets, trenches, and shot-up tanks finally confirm that what we are witnessing is the staging of a war scenario. With all color illustrations, this publication offers multiple insights into Claudio Hils' new photographic project and serves as an overview of the photographer's work over the last few years.

Before a grand panorama of post-Revolutionary War South, Daniel Hudson struggles to survive amid prejudicial minds of the time. A fading native American culture greets Hudson, whose quest is to discover his true identity as he searches for land and a place to call home. Fired from a job in the Gold Region of Alabama, he suffers not only the loss of a father, but is plagued by his ghostly voice. Daniel encounters a military family that changes his course, and although plagued with amnesia after an ambush, meets an old adversary whose madness entangles him with murder. A flight and pursuit saga unfolds that takes him through Louisiana''s famous No Man''s Land, Mexican Tejas Territory, and finally the red hills of north Louisiana. Daniel''s subconscious and introspective personality propels the story forward as his inner-man develops. Red Land is a story full of southern flavor and its torrent weather storms. The historical avenues of Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana are highlighted. Dollops of down home romance, will draw the reader into this particular ancestral line that remains lost to historians. Evident of the red dirt clinging to her heart, Charlotte Ewing unveils ancestral secrets of multi-generations within the Hudson and Tyree families from the gulf south region. She documents her findings with concise family charts, census and land records. Charlotte''s love of history, her competency as a researcher, and her artistry in spinning a great story makes this work an exceptional ancestral puzzle.

The Red Land To The South written by James Howard Cox and has been published by U of Minnesota Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with History categories.

The forty years of American Indian literature taken up by James H. Cox--the decades between 1920 and 1960--have been called politically and intellectually moribund. On the contrary, Cox identifies a group of American Indian writers who share an interest in the revolutionary potential of the indigenous peoples of Mexico--and whose work demonstrates a surprisingly assertive literary politics in the era. By contextualizing this group of American Indian authors in the work of their contemporaries, Cox reveals how the literary history of this period is far more rich and nuanced than is generally acknowledged. The writers he focuses on--Todd Downing (Choctaw), Lynn Riggs (Cherokee), and D'Arcy McNickle (Confederated Salish and Kootenai)--are shown to be on par with writers of the preceding Progressive and the succeeding Red Power and Native American literary renaissance eras. Arguing that American Indian literary history of this period actually coheres in exciting ways with the literature of the Native American literary renaissance, Cox repudiates the intellectual and political border that has emerged between the two eras.

Landmark Cases In Land Law written by Nigel Gravells and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-03 with Law categories.

Landmark Cases in Land Law is the sixth volume in the Landmark Cases series of collected essays on leading cases (previous volumes in the series having covered Restitution, Contract, Tort, Equity and Family Law). The eleven cases in this volume cover the period 1834 to 2011, although, interestingly, no fewer than six of the cases were decided or reported in the 1980s. The names of the selected cases will be familiar to property lawyers. However, individually, the essays provide a reappraisal of the cases from a wide range of perspectives - focusing on their historical, social or theoretical context, highlighting previously neglected aspects and even questioning their perceived importance. Collectively, the essays explore several common themes that pervade the law of property – the numerus clausus principle, the conclusiveness of registration, the desirability of certainty in the law and the central question of the enforceability of interests through changes in ownership of land. This volume provides a collection of essays that will be of interest to academics, students and practitioners.
