Refection Positivity is a central theme at the crossroads of Lie group representations, euclidean and abstract harmonic analysis, constructive quantum field theory, and stochastic processes. This book provides the first presentation of the representation theoretic aspects of Refection Positivity and discusses its connections to those different fields on a level suitable for doctoral students and researchers in related fields. It starts with a general introduction to the ideas and methods involving refection positive Hilbert spaces and the Osterwalder--Schrader transform. It then turns to Reflection Positivity in Lie group representations. Already the case of one-dimensional groups is extremely rich. For the real line it connects naturally with Lax--Phillips scattering theory and for the circle group it provides a new perspective on the Kubo--Martin--Schwinger (KMS) condition for states of operator algebras. For Lie groups Reflection Positivity connects unitary representations of a symmetric Lie group with unitary representations of its Cartan dual Lie group. A typical example is the duality between the Euclidean group E(n) and the Poincare group P(n) of special relativity. It discusses in particular the curved context of the duality between spheres and hyperbolic spaces. Further it presents some new integration techniques for representations of Lie algebras by unbounded operators which are needed for the passage to the dual group. Positive definite functions, kernels and distributions and used throughout as a central tool.

This book contains a unique survey of the mathematically rigorous results about the quantum-mechanical many-body problem that have been obtained by the authors in the past seven years. It addresses a topic that is not only rich mathematically, using a large variety of techniques in mathematical analysis, but is also one with strong ties to current experiments on ultra-cold Bose gases and Bose-Einstein condensation. The book provides a pedagogical entry into an active area of ongoing research for both graduate students and researchers. It is an outgrowth of a course given by the authors for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers at the Oberwolfach Research Institute in 2004. The book also provides a coherent summary of the field and a reference for mathematicians and physicists active in research on quantum mechanics.

An Introduction To Non Perturbative Foundations Of Quantum Field Theory written by Franco Strocchi and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-02-14 with Science categories.
The book discusses fundamental aspects of Quantum Field Theory and of Gauge theories, with attention to mathematical consistency. Basic issues of the standard model of elementary particles (Higgs mechanism and chiral symmetry breaking in quantum Chromodynamics) are treated without relying on the perturbative expansion and on instanton calculus.

This volume presents a collection of courses introducing the reader to the recent progress with attention being paid to laying solid grounds and developing various basic tools. An introductory chapter on lattice spin models is useful as a background for other lectures of the collection. The topics include new results on phase transitions for gradient lattice models (with introduction to the techniques of the reflection positivity), stochastic geometry reformulation of classical and quantum Ising models, the localization/delocalization transition for directed polymers. A general rigorous framework for theory of metastability is presented and particular applications in the context of Glauber and Kawasaki dynamics of lattice models are discussed. A pedagogical account of several recently discussed topics in nonequilibrium statistical mechanics with an emphasis on general principles is followed by a discussion of kinetically constrained spin models that are reflecting important peculiar features of glassy dynamics.

Wavelets And Renormalization written by Guy Battle and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-03-03 with Mathematics categories.
WAVELETS AND RENORMALIZATION describes the role played by wavelets in Euclidean field theory and classical statistical mechanics. The author begins with a stream-lined introduction to quantum field theory from a rather basic point of view. Functional integrals for imaginary-time-ordered expectations are introduced early and naturally, while the connection with the statistical mechanics of classical spin systems is introduced in a later chapter.A vastly simplified (wavelet) version of the celebrated Glimm-Jaffe construction of the Φ43 quantum field theory is presented. It is due to Battle and Federbush, and it bases an inductively defined cluster expansion on a wavelet decomposition of the Euclidean quantum field. The presentation is reserved for the last chapter, while the more basic aspects of cluster expansions are reviewed in the chapter on classical spin systems.Wavelets themselves are studied from two different points of view arising from two disciplines. The mathematical point of view covers the basic properties of wavelets and methods for constructing well-known wavelets such as Meyer wavelets, Daubechies wavelets, etc. The physical point of view covers the renormalization group formalism, where there is a close connection between wavelets and Gaussian fixed points. The book is heavily mathematical, but avoids the theorem-proof-theorem-proof format in the interests of preserving the flow of the discussion — i.e., it is written in the style of an old-fashioned theoretical physics book, but the major claims are rigorously proven. The minor themes of the book are reflection positivity, the combinatorics of cluster expansions, and the issue of phase transitions — themes which have nothing to do with wavelets, but which provide necessary cultural background for the physical context.

Harish-Chandra was a mathematician of great power, vision, and remarkable ingenuity. His profound contributions to the representation theory of Lie groups, harmonic analysis, and related areas left researchers a rich legacy that continues today. This book presents the proceedings of an AMS Special Session entitled, "Representation Theory and Noncommutative Harmonic Analysis: A Special Session Honoring the Memory of Harish-Chandra", which marked 75 years since his birth and 15 years since his untimely death at age 60. Contributions to the volume were written by an outstanding group of internationally known mathematicians. Included are expository and historical surveys and original research papers. The book also includes talks given at the IAS Memorial Service in 1983 by colleagues who knew Harish-Chandra well. Also reprinted are two articles entitled, "Some Recollections of Harish-Chandra", by A. Borel, and "Harish-Chandra's c-Function: A Mathematical Jewel", by S. Helgason. In addition, an expository paper, "An Elementary Introduction to Harish-Chandra's Work", gives an overview of some of his most basic mathematical ideas with references for further study. This volume offers a comprehensive retrospective of Harish-Chandra's professional life and work. Personal recollections give the book particular significance. Readers should have an advanced-level background in the representation theory of Lie groups and harmonic analysis.

Harmonic Analysis written by Palle E.T. Jorgensen and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-30 with Mathematics categories.
There is a recent and increasing interest in harmonic analysis of non-smooth geometries. Real-world examples where these types of geometry appear include large computer networks, relationships in datasets, and fractal structures such as those found in crystalline substances, light scattering, and other natural phenomena where dynamical systems are present. Notions of harmonic analysis focus on transforms and expansions and involve dual variables. In this book on smooth and non-smooth harmonic analysis, the notion of dual variables will be adapted to fractals. In addition to harmonic analysis via Fourier duality, the author also covers multiresolution wavelet approaches as well as a third tool, namely, L2 spaces derived from appropriate Gaussian processes. The book is based on a series of ten lectures delivered in June 2018 at a CBMS conference held at Iowa State University.
