Included herein are 365 thoughts, inspirations, poems and essays. Feel free to read them all at once, one each day or however the Spirit moves you. Perhaps you will use them as seed thoughts in meditation, or as daily companions to address the challenges of each new day. They are presented to be gifts to the open hearts led to these pages. They are reflections from the Silence. Their beauty lies deep within. Think about them. Contemplate their meaning. These ideas and mini-revelations have guided the author for decades. Yet, I have barely uncovered their secrets. I invite you to go deep inside and discover their full beauty; discover the majesty of the Silence. Here you might discover more than ideas and concepts; here you just might discover yourself. Reflections from the Silence is comprised of inspirations and ideas which occurred to the author over 40 years of meditation, contemplation, and journaling. These ideas are universal in nature. They belong to each of us and are accessible to all. We have only to quiet our minds, of the noise and confusion we know as daily life. This can be done through consistent meditation and ultimately contemplation. Use these writings along with your own inspirations, to find the place of peace within, so that each day can be a reminder of your intimate and critical place within God's infinite cosmos. I invite you to travel with me through these pages and in so doing discover your own, 'Reflections from the Silence'.

With the constant barrage of things that consume our time and energy, it is often difficult for us to steal away and take time to just be quiet. Some things we have to do and choose to do can invade the time that we would have spent just being still. So as we schedule our days why not schedule time to be in the Silence. My Ramblings in the Silence is an opportunity to build the habit of sitting in the silence and listening to the Father. I had to make myself sit in Silence because it is so easy to get caught in the busyness of the day. Even when we think that we have planned well we can look up and find that our time has been spent and we wonder where it went. This devotional challenges you to take 21 days and spend intentional time sitting in the Silence. Not asking for anything, but listening for everything that the Father would want to speak to you. The short devotions shared here are my honest musings as I contend for the Silence. I invite you to share this experience with me and journal what God is speaking to you in the Silence.

In their recent book The Silent God, Marjo Korpel and Johannes de Moor presented a provocative view on the concept of divine silence in ancient Israel. In their view, divine silence can be explained as an answer to a variety of circumstances. Additionally, they opt for the view that divine silence needs to be answered by appropriate human conduct. The essays in this volume applaud and challenge their views from different perspectives: exegetical, ancient Near Eastern, semantic, philosophical etc. Some authors hint at the view that divine silence should be construed as an indication of divine absence. Korpel and De Moor give a learned response to their critics. Contributors include: Bob Becking, Joel Burnett, Meindert Dijkstra, Walter Dietrich, Matthijs de Jong, Paul Sanders, Marcel Sarot, Anne-Mareike Wetter, Marjo Korpel and Johannes C. de Moor.

This unique book takes silence as its central concept and questions the range of meanings and values which inform the idea as it impinges on the creative process and its content and contexts. The thematic core of silence allows a consideration of silencing and silence as opposite ends of a spectrum: one shutting down, the other enabling and opening up. As a multidisciplinary collection of essays derived from the teaching and implementation of Creative Writing at university level, the contributors consider silence as strategic, both through the need for silence and as something which compels resistance. They explore how writing has employed images and tropes of silence in the past, and used silence and gaps technically. In considering marginalised and forgotten voices, this book shows how writers bring their diverse range of backgrounds and experience to work with and against silence in Creative Writing Studies. The first theoretical work on silence in Creative Writing, this field-shifting book is an essential read for both practitioners and students of Creative Writing at the higher education level.

Feminist research is informed by a history of breaking silences, of demanding that women’s voices be heard, recorded and included in wider intellectual genealogies and histories. This has led to an emphasis on voice and speaking out in the research endeavour. Moments of secrecy and silence are less often addressed. This gives rise to a number of questions. What are the silences, secrets, omissions and and political consequences of such moments? What particular dilemmas and constraints do they represent or entail? What are their implications for research praxis? Are such moments always indicative of voicelessness or powerlessness? Or may they also constitute a productive moment in the research encounter? Contributors to this volume were invited to reflect on these questions. The resulting chapters are a fascinating collection of insights into the research process, making an important contribution to theoretical and empirical debates about epistemology, subjectivity and identity in research. Researchers often face difficult dilemmas about who to represent and how, what to omit and what to include. This book explores such questions in an important and timely collection of essays from international scholars.

Ancient philosophers in both the East and the West attempted to identify the factors that unify our conception of the world without resort to the dualism introduced by Socrates and Plato. This impulse, largely suppressed in the West with the advent of the Christian era, continued to appear in the writings and activities of a variety of individuals over the centuries that followed. By the end of the nineteenth century, Platonic dualism came to be challenged openly in the wake of new science and changes in cultural attitudes. The re-emergence of a process model of reality and the conception of a unitary world is nowhere more evident than in the work of certain artists active since the middle of the twentieth century. This book traces that arc.
