This paper is the second in a series of three devoted to the analysis of regularity of solutions of elliptic problems on nonsmooth domains in R3. The present paper concentrates on the regularity of solution of Poisson equation in neighborhoods of edges of a polyhedral domain in the frame of the weighted Sobolev spaces and countably normed spaces. These results can be generalized to elliptic problems arising form mechanics and engineering; for instance, the elasticity problem on polyhedral domains.

The first part of the volume focuses on the approximation of elliptic and mixed PDEs, beginning with fundamental results on well-posed weak formulations and their approximation by the Galerkin method. Understanding the interaction between various processes is a pre-requisite for solving problems in natural and engineering sciences. Many phenomena can not be described by concentrating on them in isolation - therefore multifield models and concepts that include various kinds of field problems and processes are needed. This book summarizes the main scientific results of the Collaborative Research Center on Multifield Problems in Continuum Mechanics (Sonderforschungsbereich Mehrfeldprobleme in der Kontinuumsmechanik, SFB 404) funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) from 1995-2006.
