Reinforced Concrete Beams Columns And Frames written by Charles Casandjian and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-02-05 with Science categories.
This book is focused on the theoretical and practical design of reinforced concrete beams, columns and frame structures. It is based on an analytical approach of designing normal reinforced concrete structural elements that are compatible with most international design rules, including for instance the European design rules – Eurocode 2 – for reinforced concrete structures. The book tries to distinguish between what belongs to the structural design philosophy of such structural elements (related to strength of materials arguments) and what belongs to the design rule aspects associated with specific characteristic data (for the material or loading parameters). Reinforced Concrete Beams, Columns and Frames – Mechanics and Design deals with the fundamental aspects of the mechanics and design of reinforced concrete in general, both related to the Serviceability Limit State (SLS) and the Ultimate Limit State (ULS). A second book, entitled Reinforced Concrete Beams, Columns and Frames – Section and Slender Member Analysis, deals with more advanced ULS aspects, along with instability and second-order analysis aspects. Some recent research results including the use of non-local mechanics are also presented. This book is aimed at Masters-level students, engineers, researchers and teachers in the field of reinforced concrete design. Most of the books in this area are very practical or code-oriented, whereas this book is more theoretically based, using rigorous mathematics and mechanics tools. Contents 1. Design at Serviceability Limit State (SLS). 2. Verification at Serviceability Limit State (SLS). 3. Concepts for the Design at Ultimate Limit State (ULS). 4. Bending-Curvature at Ultimate Limit State (ULS). Appendix 1. Cardano’s Method. Appendix 2. Steel Reinforcement Table. Composite Structures Of Steel And Concrete written by Roger P. Johnson and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-11-13 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book provides an introduction to the theory and design of composite structures of steel and concrete. Material applicable to both buildings and bridges is included, with more detailed information relating to structures for buildings. Throughout, the design methods are illustrated by calculations in accordance with the Eurocode for composite structures, EN 1994, Part 1-1, ‘General rules and rules for buildings’ and Part 1-2, ‘Structural fire design’, and their cross-references to ENs 1990 to 1993. The methods are stated and explained, so that no reference to Eurocodes is needed. The use of Eurocodes has been required in the UK since 2010 for building and bridge structures that are publicly funded. Their first major revision began in 2015, with the new versions due in the early 2020s. Both authors are involved in the work on Eurocode 4. They explain the expected additions and changes, and their effect in the worked examples for a multi-storey framed structure for a building, including resistance to fire. The book will be of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students, their lecturers and supervisors, and to practising engineers seeking familiarity with composite structures, the Eurocodes, and their ongoing revision.

The second edition of Construction Technology: Analysis and Choice has been expanded to include commercial buildings. This now covers, in a single textbook, all the basic forms of construction studied on professional courses. The book takes as its theme the process of choice: what the expert has to know and how he/she might think through the decisions to be made about the design, production, maintenance and disposal of buildings. It is written with the conviction that by focusing on the process of choice, the range of theory and knowledge that is useful to practice becomes explicit, making the link between knowledge and practice, and between understanding and experience. The new edition has been updated throughout with extensive additions to Chapter13: Manufacture and Assembly and to Chapter 15: Sustainability. An entire new section has been added, covering all the main elements of commercial construction. Students will find here explanations of how environments, structural behaviour, production know-how, cost and social concerns such as sustainability can be taken into account in the choice of construction. They will also gain a clear understanding of the construction details and specifications adopted for both housing and commercial buildings in the UK at the beginning of the 21st century. Provides a framework to think through proposed solutions Sets the choice of solution in both time and place, and in the context of sustainability Focuses on key questions: will the proposal fail; and can it be built? Considers a building’s response to loading, environmental conditions and time Looks at the production process as manufacture and assembly Book website at www.wiley.com/go/bryanconstructiontech2e Contains nearly 200 fully referenced, clear line drawings to download for free, as well as suggested learning activities for lecturers to incorporate into their teaching programmes.

Empirical Seismic Vulnerability And Resilience Assessment Of Building Clusters written by Si-Qi Li and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-18 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Empirical Seismic Vulnerability and Resilience Assessment of Building Clusters analyzes the seismic vulnerability analysis of 10 types of structures and studies and discusses the evaluation of structural damage using risk analysis and shaking table test methods. The book focuses on seismic vulnerabilities but does not consider the contribution of typical empirical structural seismic damage data to structural vulnerability assessment and prediction. In other words, the empirical data's role in regional seismic damage is omitted. It is recognized that the impactof earthquakes on large-scale areas is extensive, not only on a building but also on a group of buildings. This book is based on the research background of typical seismic damage characteristics of 11 types of engineering structures and is based on a large volume of pictures and data investigated by the author on-site. Characteristics of the vulnerability of various structures are analyzed, and measures and methods to improve the vulnerability of various structures are provided. Combined with probability risk, reliability, machine learning, and other means, vulnerability prediction and evaluation models are established, respectively, and the rationality of the models is verified by hundreds of on-site earthquake damage survey data. The above research and highlights are unique to this book, making it a key resource for academic researchers and practicing engineers in civil and seismic engineering, senior undergraduates, and graduate students. - Increases engineers' theoretical and practical knowledge of field investigation and improves their efficiency and quality in future work - Includes the analyses of hundreds of earthquake field survey data - Provides a vulnerability assessment of diversified structural experience

Inelastic Analysis Of Structures written by Milan Jirasek and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-12-21 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The modeling of mechanical properties of materials and structures is a complex and wide-ranging subject. In some applications, it is sufficient to assume that the material remains elastic, i.e. that the deformation process is fully reversible and the stress is a unique function of strain. However, such a simplified assumption is appropriate only within a limited range, and in general must be replaced by a more realistic approach that takes into account the inelastic processes such as plastic yielding or cracking. This book presents a comprehensive treatment of the most important areas of plasticity and of time-dependent inelastic behavior (viscoplasticity of metals, and creep and shrinkage of concrete). It covers structural aspects such as: * incremental analysis * limit analysis * shakedown analysis * optimal design * beam structures subjected to bending and torsion * yield line theory of plates * slip line theory * size effect in structures * creep and shrinkage effects in concrete structures. The following aspects of the advanced material modeling are presented: * yield surfaces for metals and plastic-frictional materials * hardening and softening * stress-return algorithms * large-strain formulations * thermodynamic framework * microplane models * localization of plastic strain. Inelastic Analysis of Structures is a textbook for basic and advanced courses on plasticity, with a slight emphasis on structural engineering applications, but with a wealth of material for geotechnical, mechanical, aerospace, naval, petroleum and nuclear engineers. The text is constructed in a very didactical way, while the mathematics has been kept rigorous.

Ai Based Optimized Design Of Structural Frames written by Won‐Kee Hong and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-10-16 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book introduces an auto‐design‐based optimization for building frames using an artificial neural network (ANN)‐based Lagrange method and novel genetic algorithm (GA). The work of great mathematician Joseph‐Louis Lagrange and ANNs are merged to identify parameters that optimize structural frames of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel frames subject to one or more design constraints. New features for enhancing conventional GA are also demonstrated to optimize structural frames. New features for optimizing multiple design targets of the building frames are highlighted, while design requirements imposed by codes are automatically satisfied. Chapters provide readers with an understanding of how both ANN‐based and novel GA‐based structural optimization can be implemented in holistically optimizing designated design targets for building structural frames, guiding readers toward more rational designs that is consistent with American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards. ANN‐based holistic designs of multi‐story frames in general and reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel frames in particular, are introduced. This book suits structural engineers, architects, and graduate students in the field of building frame designs and is heavily illustrated with color figures and tables.
