Reinserção de Presos volta-se à educação de reeducandos inseridos no Projeto Começar de Novo, desenvolvido nas edificações do Tribunal de Justiça do Estado de Goiás. O autor, por sua vez, buscou identificar o perfil desses sujeitos de pesquisa que trabalham no Tribunal; analisar se os serviços que executam estão relacionados às habilidades que possuem para as funções; avaliar o aprendizado que recebem para a recolocação profissional; investigar as concepções de educação e trabalho realizadas com os reeducandos do sistema prisional; investigar as concepções de educação e trabalho realizadas com os reeducandos do sistema prisional de Goiás na parceria firmada com o Tribunal de Justiça do Estado de Goiás. Houve, na pesquisa, a análise da implementação do projeto com as práticas de trabalho aplicadas, tendo como questões norteadoras: se as práticas de trabalho são efetivas ou não quando do retorno da reeducação ao mercado de trabalho;e as relações pessoais nesse ambiente e o interesse da administração no cumprimento das recomendações da legislação penal. A teoria entre as classes sociais nas quais os poderes econômicos, culturais e políticos criam as distorções entre ricos e pobres; o aporte teórico de Goffman, demonstrando o papel das prisões como instituições totais; de Foucault, apresentando as formas jurídicas e o papel disciplinador da prisão; e de Bourdieur, em que houve a utilização dos conceitos de campo, capital (formas de poder) e poder simbólico deram corpo à pesquisa, a qual utiliza o conceito de violência simbólica e o contexto de 15 entrevistados, os quais foram ouvidos durante a pandemia de Covid-19 sobre suas impressões acerca do Projeto. Avaliando o perfil do reeducando, constatou-se que: os serviços prestados não seguem o proposto na legislação; os direitos trabalhistas não são aplicados; e a discriminação no ambiente de trabalho é grande.

Braithwaite's argument against punitive justice systems and for restorative justice systems establishes that there are good theoretical and empirical grounds for anticipating that well designed restorative justice processes will restore victims, offenders, and communities better than existing criminal justice practices. Counterintuitively, he also shows that a restorative justice system may deter, incapacitate, and rehabilitate more effectively than a punitive system. This is particularly true when the restorative justice system is embedded in a responsive regulatory framework that opts for deterrence only after restoration repeatedly fails, and incapacitation only after escalated deterrence fails. Braithwaite's empirical research demonstrates that active deterrence under the dynamic regulatory pyramid that is a hallmark of the restorative justice system he supports, is far more effective than the passive deterrence that is notable in the stricter "sentencing grid" of current criminal justice systems.

Crime, Shame and Reintegration is a contribution to general criminological theory. Its approach is as relevant to professional burglary as to episodic delinquency or white collar crime. Braithwaite argues that some societies have higher crime rates than others because of their different processes of shaming wrongdoing. Shaming can be counterproductive, making crime problems worse. But when shaming is done within a cultural context of respect for the offender, it can be an extraordinarily powerful, efficient and just form of social control. Braithwaite identifies the social conditions for such successful shaming. If his theory is right, radically different criminal justice policies are needed - a shift away from punitive social control toward greater emphasis on moralizing social control.
