The book "Reinventing Gravity: A Theory of Everything Based on Effective Gravitational Velocity," written by Rogelio Perez Casadiego, presents an innovative and ambitious proposal for a Theory of Everything (ToE). Main Objective: The central objective of the book is to present a radical alternative to current theories, such as General Relativity and the ΛCDM model, proposing that gravity is neither a fundamental force nor a curvature of space-time, but an emergent phenomenon. This emergence is based on a central concept introduced by the author: the effective gravitational velocity (eGV). Approach and Content: 1. Reinterpretation of Gravity: Gravity is conceived as a collective manifestation of the fundamental interactions of the universe, similar to how thermodynamics emerges from statistical mechanics. It is described more as an optical phenomenon or a modification of the properties of the quantum vacuum influenced by matter and energy, rather than a geometric curvature. 2. Unification of Forces: The book develops a unified Lagrangian (LToE = LQCD + LQED + Lweak- 1/2 m vg² ψ̄ ψ) that integrates the Standard Model descriptions for the strong, electromagnetic, and weak interactions, incorporating gravity as a local coupling term that modifies the effective mass of fermions. This connects gravity with quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and quantum field theory. 3. Dark Matter Alternative: The proposed theory, called Effective Quantum Gravity (NETQG), offers an alternative explanation for the gravitational effects attributed to dark matter. It suggests that these effects may be due to the distribution of baryonic matter into exotic, ultra-cold states (such as ionic crystals or Bose-Einstein condensates) influenced by vg gradients, eliminating the need to postulate undetected exotic particles. 4. Theoretical and Observational Validation: The book explores how this theory reproduces well-known phenomena such as Mercury's perihelion precession, Earth's gravitational acceleration, solar gravitational redshift, and time shifts in GPS clocks. It also addresses cosmological observations such as galactic rotation curves and the Bullet Cluster effect. 5. Implications and Verification: The profound philosophical and scientific implications of this approach are discussed, including a monistic and emergentist view of reality. The book proposes specific experiments, such as networks of entangled quantum clocks, to measure gravity-induced quantum phase shifts and verify the theory. Potential technological applications in quantum sensors, metrology, and space exploration are also explored. 6. Challenges and Future: The author acknowledges the significant challenges facing the theory, such as the lack of scientific consensus, the need for advanced cosmological simulations, and the need to obtain direct evidence of ultracold matter. Future lines of research are presented to consolidate or refute the proposal. In summary, the book offers a novel and unified view of the universe, reinterpreting gravity and dark matter within a coherent theoretical framework based on emerging quantum and thermodynamic principles, with the potential to impact both fundamental physics and future technology.

Einstein's gravity theory—his general theory of relativity—has served as the basis for a series of astonishing cosmological discoveries. But what if, nonetheless, Einstein got it wrong? Since the 1930s, physicists have noticed an alarming discrepancy between the universe as we see it and the universe that Einstein's theory of relativity predicts. There just doesn't seem to be enough stuff out there for everything to hang together. Galaxies spin so fast that, based on the amount of visible matter in them, they ought to be flung to pieces, the same way a spinning yo-yo can break its string. Cosmologists tried to solve the problem by positing dark matter—a mysterious, invisible substance that surrounds galaxies, holding the visible matter in place—and particle physicists, attempting to identify the nature of the stuff, have undertaken a slew of experiments to detect it. So far, none have. Now, John W. Moffat, a physicist at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Canada, offers a different solution to the problem. The capstone to a storybook career—one that began with a correspondence with Einstein and a conversation with Niels Bohr—Moffat's modified gravity theory, or MOG, can model the movements of the universe without recourse to dark matter, and his work challenging the constancy of the speed of light raises a stark challenge to the usual models of the first half-million years of the universe's existence. This bold new work, presenting the entirety of Moffat's hypothesis to a general readership for the first time, promises to overturn everything we thought we knew about the origins and evolution of the universe.

A simple explanation of gravity relates to the Higgs mechanism and the Pauli exclusion principle. By the latter, matter cannot occupy the same space other matter occupies, but light energy superimposes to be nearly invisible to other light. By the Higgs mechanism, light energy converts to matter. By its interaction, matter also converts back to light energy. Light speed is also slower in a gravitational field. There is thus a positive field of energy maintaining matter that emits light energy for a vacuum effect consistent with the inverse square law. As a recycling effect, it is also consistent with Einstein's cosmological constant and the cosmological principle of the big bang theory. Tired light is also included for dark energy whereby the Hubble Constant divided by light speed equates the ratio of gravitational force to electromagnetic force.

Black holes entered the world of science fiction and films in the 1960s, and their popularity in our culture remains today. The buzz surrounding black holes was and is due, in large part, to their speculative nature. It is still difficult for the general public to determine fact versus fiction as it pertains to this terrifying idea: something big enough to swallow anything and everything in close proximity, with a gravitational force so strong that nothing, including light, can escape. In the fall of 2015, scientists at the Laser Interferometry Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) detected the first sounds from black holes, brought to earth by the gravitational waves that emitted from the merging of two black holes 1.4 billion light years away in space. This confirmed the existence of gravitational waves, which Albert Einstein predicted in 1916. In the spring of 2017, physicists and astronomers who were working on the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) project captured the first image of a black hole. This was the supermassive black hole hosted by the galaxy M87 in the constellation Virgo, 53 million light years away, and the image shows the shadow the black hole casts upon the bright light surrounding it. In this book, John Moffat shares the history of black holes and presents the latest research into these mysterious celestial objects, including the astounding results from gravitational wave detection and the shadow of the black hole.

Its About Time presents an introduction to theoretical physics as well as challenges to some of the concepts put forward by theoretical physicists of our time. These scientists have presented such concepts in countless public lectures, highlights of which are compiled here along with a variety of historical data, such as the history of earth time. Also included are short biographies of physicists who have contributed significantly to our knowledge base. To help foster understanding of the related astronomical matters, Its About Time includes technical information relating to Newton and Keplers laws. Technical discussions are appended to the end of each relevant chapter. Furthermore, it offers a credible and significant challenge to Einsteins theories and to the current thinking on time dilation. Finally, the study outlines some procedural guidelines for young physicists and suggests how academic institutions can become custodians of a central depository of reference data, facilitating future physicists into more efficient and fruitful endeavors. This study offers no challenge to mathematics, which is a pure and exact science. When a physicist is able to have the mathematics represent natural phenomena, then mathematics becomes a necessary tool for our simplified understanding of nature. Eventually all of nature will be reduced to mathematical terms. The challenge presented here is to theoretical mathematics with no proven relationship to natural phenomena.

This book debunks the foundations of contemporary government-led development policy. The author questions the predictability of success when using mainstream development doctrines and its underlying assumptions, approaching development from a sceptical standpoint, as opposed to the more common optimistic view. The book uses international development and aid as a case study of how rich countries define how change should happen. Further, it suggests alternative ways of thinking about and organizing social change.
