Diesem Anspruch stellt sich Juliane Lamprecht, indem sie rekonstruktive Evaluationsergebnisse in eine responsive Diskussion mit den Befragten überführt und praxistheoretisch hinterfragt. Die empirische Untersuchung der Evaluationsgespräche mit pädagogischen AkteurInnen, die im Übergang vom Elementar- zum Primarbereich tätig sind, zeigt, wie sich unterschiedliche Relevanzsysteme von ErzieherInnen und LehrerInnen in alltagspraktischen Modi der Kooperation verdeutlichen lassen. Eröffnen sie den pädagogischen Akteuren alternative Zugänge zu gewohnten (Bewertungs-)Praktiken? Diese Frage mündet in den Entwurf einer Theorie der Evaluationspraxis.

How can teacher education prepare future teachers for their work in increasingly diverse classrooms? How does the concept of plurilingualism inform language educational policy in different countries? What are the current opportunities and challenges in the domain of internationalisation in teacher education? The contributions to this volume address these questions from different theoretical perspectives, and with a strong emphasis on the actual practices in various classrooms. At a time when simplistic, essentialist, biased, and discriminatory ideologies and practices see a rebirth in public discourse, and represent a risk to education, the contributors here take stock and describe some worthwhile alternatives. The first set of chapters addresses the integration of ethnic, religious, and gender diversity in teacher education colleges. In the second part, the notion of plurilingualism in different educational contexts is explored from a critical sociolinguistic point of view. The chapters in the third part present evidence from innovative international academic exchange programs and how they contribute to socio-spatial learning amongst others. The common denominator in this volume is the notion of convergence – the coexistence of people and practices in diverse contexts.

Re-thinking the idea of scholarly life regarding teacher education means to critically examine the specifics of classroom teaching, respectively pedagogical challenges. School does not exist simply to convey information or expertise. It is a society in which everyone is responsible for in a reflected way participating in diverse relationships to him-/herself, to others and to the world, and, based on diverse forms of knowledge and representation, actively forming them. Education in the classroom consists also of giving the students an idea of that. Hereby, tacit forms of knowledge and educational practices play an important role. In the concept of 'performative play' teacher education is seen as a linking up of theories in Educational and other Human Sciences with the everyday practice of teachers. It will be shown that the performative paradigm opens up the possibility to overcome the concentration of a science-oriented education in school on rational, linguistically symbolized knowledge and metrical explanatory models. By this, a model of a science- as well as practice-oriented teacher education will be unfolded that is supposed to be open to diverse cultural modes of learning.
