The purpose of this study was to demonstrate a relationship between employee participation in an employer -provided wellness program and enhanced job satisfaction. The Brayfield and Rothe Index of Job Satisfaction questionnaire was distributed to a control group of 28 employees, and an experimental group of 28 employees. The control group sample consisted of employees in a banking / investment corporation lacking a wellness program. The experimental group sample consisted of employees who utilized the on-site, corporate-sponsored, wellness program of another banking investment firm. Data were analyzed utilizing the t-test at a 0.05 level of significance. Data analysis was not significant at the 0.05 level, therefore the hypothesis was not accepted. Implications for further research in this area include additional studies utilizing samples more representative of the corporate population, and a tool for data collection that is more specific to job satisfaction and benefits satisfaction.

This study investigated employee participation in a college-based wellness program using the following factors: leader support, incentives, job satisfaction, absenteeism, and self-efficacy. Specifically, the research was conducted to determine whether there was a significant relationship or difference in participation in a collegebased wellness program when looking at leader support, incentives, and individual selfefficacy and if participation made any difference on job satisfaction and/or absenteeism. The theoretical framework of this research is based on Bandura's social learning theory, also known as social cognitive theory, and was supplemented using Ajzen's theory of planned behavior. Emphasis on wellness is a strategy being utilized more frequently by a variety of organizations in an effort to promote more effective employee self-care. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between quality of life and job satisfaction in a university setting as well as explore what barriers prevent employee participation in university wellness programs. Subjects (N=42) include faculty, staff and administration who participated in at least 1 class in Fall of 2015 in the Human Resources Personal Development Program. Participants completed an anonymous online survey that asked vi questions about their job role, number of years employed, job satisfaction, quality of life, and barriers to participation. Results revealed that there is a strong, positive relationship between job satisfaction and quality of life. Barriers for participation include timing issues and lack of interest in topics. These results support previous literature, but future research should explore incorporating a standardized job satisfaction instrument and measuring impacts on participation once the identified barriers are addressed.

This mixed methods study examined the relationship between personal wellness and job satisfaction, as well as the effectiveness of a workplace wellness program on personal wellness. A survey was completed by eighty-two professional K-12 educators from a single public school district, and five of the eighty-two participated in interviews. While an individual's perceived wellness was reported higher than what he or she reported the wellness program could offer, the workplace wellness program, job satisfaction, and personal wellness were linked. Participation in the wellness program was positively associated with physical wellness (r=.26) significant at the 0.05 level, occupational wellness (r=.31) significant at the 0.01 level, and job satisfaction (r=.39) significant at the 0.01 level. K-12 teachers identified emotional wellness as the most important facet of wellness, and therefore, wellness programs should contain a large emotional component to be effective. Further, the greatest stressor for K-12 teachers was found to be a lack of time, and the greatest limiting factor for wellness program participation was a lack of time as well. This study expanded upon the limited body of research available on the effectiveness of wellness programs in public schools.

Worksite wellness programs have historically focused on the modification of individual employee behavior (e.g., Shepard, 1981). Scholars have recently engaged in a discussion about the role the workplace environment plays in employee health behavior (e.g., Golaszewski, Allen, & Edington, 2008). The present correlational study contributes to this conversation by defining the relationship between employees' perceptions of leadership support for health promotion and employees' perceptions of organizational health climate and its impact on employee health and work behaviors and attitudes; and by examining the extent to which variance in work and health behaviors may be accounted for by employees' perceptions of leadership support for health promotion and by employees' perceptions of organizational health climate. Online and paper-based surveys were used to collect data from the employees (n = 621) at four organizations in the southeast United States. Study findings indicated that employees' perceptions of leadership support for health promotion were predictive of employee participation in wellness program activities. The study also found that employees' perceptions of organizational health climate were predictive of job satisfaction, job stress, and employee engagement. Overall, the results of this study confirm the importance of leadership support for health promotion and organizational health climate in the strategic development, management and continuation of workplace wellness. These findings have important implications for practice as employees' perceptions of leadership support for health promotion and employees' perceptions of organizational health climate were found to be key leverage points for employee participation in wellness activities and for employee health behavior change. Future research can extend these findings by continuing to bridge the organizational behavior, management, and human resource development research with the public health research on workplace wellness.

The purpose of this study was to identify strategies that impact the successful implementation of an education employee wellness program. Specific strategies that were studied include rewards, program availability, program configuration, and leadership involvement. The problem this study sought to investigate was employee participation and the impact an employee wellness program can have on insurance costs in a self-funded healthcare consortium for an educational entity. The study explored if a high rate of education employee participation in employer sponsored employee wellness program appeared to help reduce healthcare costs for schools participating in a healthcare consortium. This research was conducted using a single-instrument qualitative case study research approach that included six one-to-one interviews, one focus group interview, one observation, and data analysis. The research was conducted at an intermediate unit within a healthcare consortium. The six interviews were conducted with leader representatives from the planning committee. A pilot study was conducted to deliver content validity. All data collected through interviews were transcribed and categorized according to emerging themes. Themes were used to identify patterns that were used to answer the research questions. Research conducted on educational entities within a healthcare consortiums is limited. The results of this research will add to a limited body of existing research that could be used to inform other administrators of other healthcare consortiums interested in adopting employee wellness programs. The following results have been developed through a qualitative research approach that was conducted with the upmost ethical standards. It appears through this research that there is not one single significant factor that leads to implementation success, rather a combination of items that are as follows; contractual language, clear implementation steps, monetary incentives, leadership involvement, planning committee involvement, preventative screenings, physical fitness and nutrition classes, and effective communication. It is recommended by this researcher that after careful data analysis, intermediate units and school districts interested in creating an employee wellness program can experience savings on healthcare costs by improving employee wellbeing. Specific recommendations for implementing an employee wellness program are to create an employee wellness program that is focused on employee wellbeing by promoting employee wellbeing throughout the organization. It is also important to ensure that the employee wellness program is written into the support staff and professional staff contracts and that agreed upon timelines are met through effective and consistent employee communications. Future research can be furthered by studying how to sustain and employee wellness program and the impact that it could have on employee sick use, job satisfaction, and a correlation of employee wellbeing, and the impact on standardized test scores.
