The great religions often claim that their books or creeds contain truths revealed by God. How could we know that they do? In the second edition of Revelation, renowned philosopher of religion Richard Swinburne addresses this central question. But since the books of great religions often contain much poetry and parable, Swinburne begins by investigating how eternal truth can be conveyed in unfamiliar genres, by analogy and metaphor, within false presuppositions about science and history. In the final part of the book, Swinburne then applies the results of Parts I and II to assessing the evidence that the teaching of the Christian Church constitutes a revelation from God. In the course of his philosophical exploration, Swinburne considers how the church which Jesus founded is to be identified today and presents a sustained discussion of which passages in the Bible should be understood literally and which should be understood metaphorically. This is a fuller and entirely rewritten second edition of Revelation, the most notable new feature of which is a long chapter examining whether traditional Christian claims about personal morality (divorce, homosexuality, abortion, etc.) can be regarded as revealed truths. A formal appendix shows how the structure of evidence supporting the Christian revelation can be articulated in terms of the probability calculus (and shows that Plantinga's well-known argument from 'dwindling probabilities' against probabilistic arguments of this kind is not cogent).

This study provides an in-depth analysis of the relationship between modernity and Christianity. The author argues that the notion of revelation is eminently reasonable and indissolubly connected with being and reality. He takes Jaspers' philosophy of religion as representative of the 'classical' modern critique and gives it its due. He then takes a step backward, so to speak, and by means of a consideration of the history of ideas, seeks to rehabilitate the Christian understanding of revelation. To do this, he draws upon Schelling's remarkable philosophy of revelation and Baader's much less familiar speculative dogmatics. However, this study is much more than a profound philosophical and theological account of the thought of Jaspers, Schelling and Baader. It is above all an eloquent defence of the plausibility and intelligibility of what Christians have always believed. In fact, the author makes a compelling case for the claim that revelation is 'that without which Christianity cannot be thought'.

All of this has been taken into consideration, and compiled into the book that I have published, to share with all who have the desire to hear where this book gives me the opportunity to share how the past has proven the revelations of the future to be correct just not for the reasons everyone believe they are correct; which is thee way they are projected by mainstream media while the reasons the revelations are actually correct is not fully known which is the interesting information that my book will reveal. To read the book that I have published is to look at the understanding of everything that is accepted as so in a much clearer light which at face value is just an opinion but with further investigation as it is with all things that are further investigated will reveal that un-evaluated information on a topic will give a greater clarity on any subject, by shining light on the grey/gray areas that at first were not evaluated where the revealed un-evaluated information; as new information; will be revealed as a fact to a clearer light than the one that was formerly seen which is such with the information that will be presented in my book.
