Can religion become a drug? Can a person become physically addicted to something other than a substance? This book examines when religion becomes destructive. When the idea of a relationship between mankind and God is reduced to simply a doctrine of behavior it no longer sets a person free. God never meant for people to use Him as a means of avoiding responsibilities in the same manner as an alcoholic uses a bottle or an addict uses a drug. This book gives insight into the behavior referred to as religious addiction and ideas on how to possibly help someone who has found themselves in that trap.

After the Second World War, in the 1950s and beyond, we embraced revolutionary emancipation of women, among other things, which led to an unprecedented sexual and cultural revolution, especially in the West. We discarded some of the old ways of doing things, and we opened the door to a brand-new and modern civilization in the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s. The sexual and cultural revolution led us to secularism, which challenged many draconian mores, including those in Muslim countries such as Pakistan, Malaysia, Turkey, Iran, Tunisia, and Morocco. That was when I published one of my books, Sociology of Religion: Changing Conceptions in the Structure of Islam. However, in relatively recent times, we have faced the backward process of reverting to traditional norms. That reversed cultural change led to fundamentalism, including fundamentalism in religion, which is a precursor to addiction to religion. That has ultimately resulted in national and international terrorism. That born-again trend encouraged me to do research in this field, including addiction to religion. That led me to write this book. I have concluded in this book that both addiction to drugs and addiction to religion are a disease, a delirium, and a psychic syndrome influenced by a mental disorder. During the last two to three decades, there has been a significant rise in religious fundamentalism leading to addiction to religion, which has caused global havoc. Religion has been hijacked, misused, and abused, largely by semiliterate believers in all organized religions. Religious addiction is perhaps worse than drug addiction. Other books by the Author 1. Faith And Action written by R. J. Rushdoony and has been published by Chalcedon Foundation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-26 with Religion categories.

Faith and Action is the complete collection of the essays of R. J. Rushdoony written for the Chalcedon Report between 1965 and 2001 along with several transcripts of his recorded talks. The large volume The Roots of Reconstruction only contained his Chalcedon Report essays up until 1985, so most of the essays included in Faith & Action were unavailable to readers for many years until now. In order to make the author’s knowledge more accessible, this three-volume collection features some of the most extensive indexing we’ve ever done including a General Index, a History Index, a Scripture Index, a Works Cited Index, and a Chalcedon Report Directory. A total of 183 pages of indexing! This handsome set of books is a must have for any serious library. The central theme of this collection of essays is Christian Reconstruction, which to Rushdoony meant the responsibility of Christian citizenship in the Kingdom of God. For him, his central drive behind his research and writing was to move men to faith and action. Rushdoony was primarily an essayist who vigorously and prolifically wrote on a multiplicity of subjects, issues, and disciplines. Despite his being critical of both the contemporary church for its compromise and the humanistic state for its will to be as God, these essays are replete with Rushdoony’s undying faith in the victory of God in history. Rushdoony’s “big idea” was Christian Reconstruction which centered not on a pursuit of political power but rather an equipping of Christians to take back government by means of self-government in terms of God’s law. This three-volume collection will no doubt serve the larger church for many generations as they seek first the Kingdom of God in their spheres, and in their times.

The most destructive Frankenstein was created "in the name of God", among Brazilians in Somerville, Massachusetts. An unhealthy faith system it was established. As a result, many Brazilians may not trust any authority. They are becoming unable to discern who supports their integrity, and who not. Visibly, the mental health of some religious leaders became an issue. The questions that arise at the intersection of faith and mental illness are not easily answered. It is impossible to deny the damage caused by some leaders around the Boston greater area. Faith has been destroyed, lives have been lost and an entire generation has been spiritually, emotionally and psychologically mutilated. This book represents an action to take responsibility before God and the second generation of Brazilians in the United States. In order to understand the reasons behind this process of "deconversion" the challenge is to consider some aspects of religious addictions, mental health and spirituality. The Brazilian community has been diagnosed with a "spiritual tumor". This illness has the potential for causing isolation. Unless addressed, this sense of isolation and unproductive faith can be ongoing. Many of the Brazilians feel that their faith has been stolen, and it's time to take it back. Authentic accountability with each other could be the very thing that re-ignites our passion for Christ and His kingdom. Rev. Dr. Regina Pinto-Moura The Rev. Dr. Regina Pinto-Moura pastors the Shalom International Baptist Community in Somerville, Massachusetts. She also serves side by side with her husband, the Rev. Dr. Jota Moura Rocha. Ordained in Massachusetts in 2003, Regina earned a Masters in Counseling Psychology and Addiction from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA. She has a Doctorate from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary for her studies in Ministry in Complex Urban Settings.

Christian Doctrine written by Mike Higton and has been published by SCM Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-01-31 with Religion categories.

Providing an accessible one-volume guide to Christian doctrine, this is a thorough re-write of the first edition. Since the original was published, many students and teachers of doctrine, in theological colleges and beyond, have been learning to take more seriously the global context of their work, and to recognise the difference made by facets of their identities and social locations like race, class, gender, and disability. In this edition, Mike Higton seeks to do justice to this learning, and invites readers to understand doctrine as an unfinished conversation between many different voices. Fully updated for clarity and yet retaining its role as a rigorous introduction to its subject, the book includes new ‘interruptions’, which introduce voices that question the book’s arguments and offer new directions for readers to pursue.

The Unshakable Truth is a nondenominational Christian guide to inner peace, based on true biblical facts. A system of cross-referencing is used to quote multiple scriptures to provide the believer with the truth in God's instruction from His written Word. With divine inspiration, I clarify all the confusion to the questions asked: Was Jesus Christ the Son of God? Is there really the Trinity? Is there only one God? As Christians today, are we expected to live under the Ten Commandments or abide in the blood covenant of Jesus Christ crucified? Do Christians of today live by sight or faith? What does it mean to live in faith, love, and blood and fear? Is there really a history and message of the cross, or is it just a shocking holy thing? I have answered these questions and more, through biblical facts and revelation from God. I can tell you that God does have a prescribed order for Christian living today and that God spoke to Jesus and that there is only one God and none like God.
